How many millions of dollars will this cost them if they actually have to change their name? I hope the answer is "many".

This story seems to be only in reference to the Army Golden Knights and not The College of Saint Rose GK's - plus it's has a filed date of yesterday. ALSO also the College of Saint Rose GK's article has been updated: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2016/12/7/13879416/vegas-golden-knights-trademark-application-denied-bill-foley-nhl-expansion quote:Update 11:20 p.m.: Vegas team owner Bill Foley told a reporter for NBC Las Vegas that the application denial is false. The franchise, however, put out a statement on the application:

This just made me realize for the first time that there's already an NHL team that has the same name as a CHL and college team that had both existed before them and there was literally zero issue.

Okay wait they used themselves as an example in a response to their rejection. You can't do that!

Why is Lethbridge called the Hurricanes anyway? I always just assumed they were named after the NHL team, but now I see they predate them by a decade. Alberta isn't exactly known for their tropical storms. Should be the Lethbridge Deathbridges.

Everything I looked up about them had ZERO information on why the sweet hell they're named after a thing that doesn't happen in their very landlocked area. Also they lost and tbirds won and I got drunk it was fun also one of the hurricanes defenseman is a little poo poo-starter/poo poo-talker hah

Duke Chin posted:Yeah I found that part particularly amusing. Lethbridge is known as the windy city of Alberta. On the prairies in general poo poo is super windy and hurricane-force winds are not necessarily common, but also not unheard of. Plow winds will tear buildings apart just as capably as a hurricane, if more localised in their effect. I guess "Lethbridge Plow Winds" doesn't roll off the tongue quite as nicely.

His evidence? That he has a lot of respect for the Army. I'm sure all the bubble roster players right now are dreaming of getting ready for games in a horrible conference center "locker room" to play for Las Vegas Hockey Club.
