After many years of faithful service, my old craigslist miter saw ate itself in spectacular fashion last year, and I've been limping along ever since then with one I borrowed from my brother and a circular saw/90° angle guide. However, my brother needed his miter saw back, and I've been pining for one ever since because I use it on goddamn everything. Home Depot was clearancing out the last of their black friday stuff, so in a moment of weakness I snagged the Dewalt 12" dual bevel sliding compound miter saw for about half the regular price: Can't wait to use it to finish trimming out these cabinets and shelves I recently built:

Also, 1000 miles a day on the bike is crazy, that's iron butt challenge territory... 300-400 is a much more comfortable number. Not the same kinda mileage you can do on a car, but the trip is infinitely more enjoyable and you get to experience everything in a different way

Oh I agree with that. I've ridden sports tourers in the 250-300 range and didn't find them much better either though. I love bikes and motocamping but I would never say they're a better choice for long road trips for 99% of people. You have to plan the trip around the fact that you're on a bike to make it work, vs planning a trip around the destinations you want to hit. Speaking of road trips and recent purchases, I just booked an Air BNB in DC next week, we're heading up from Florida (I 95 ugh) for a few days. On the plus we're going to eat at Cosmic Ping Pong because the only good thing to come out of Pizzagate is that I learned they have an amazing looking clam pizza.

Haha I was just debating whether or not to post that I bought the service of having one of my wisdom teeth yanked. The gave me one 600mg ibuprofen tablet and sent me on my way, what'd you get?

7.5mg Hydrocodone

Echoing ibuprofen for wisdom teeth, but I got 5 800mgs. Instead i took a vicodin left over from gallstone attacks when I got home, much more effective.

The 600mg plus the freezing was pretty good for the first half of the day, just took another 400mg like 40 minutes ago and feeling not bad. I only had one tooth out though and it was erupted so they just kinda busted it up and yanked it out.

Those old cars also had the air conditioning that is really bad for the environment but drat does it keep the car frosty on a hot day.

Edit: I've heard people say the same about GM, but my '89 Park Avenue and '03 Silverado didn't need much work at all and they were high miles. I miss those cars. I also had an '03 Alero that didn't need much work and a '83 camaro with a 305 that would leak oil and burn oil and still bring my sorry rear end to work every day. Our only car now is an '06 XTerra with over 120,000 miles that is still hanging on pretty well. There's a rear seatbelt that needs to be replaced because of this dog right here. It's her fault... she broke it and she's why we can't have nice things. I heart bacon has a new favorite as of 19:29 on Dec 10, 2016 |

Go to the National Building Museum. It's right by a metro station and even if looking at architecture exhibits isn't your thing, just walking in and experiencing the great hall is worth the time to get there.

Best of the past few months: Lamy 2000, the nicest pen I've ever written with. Beautifully designed, and writes so smoothly. Amazing ink capacity too. Pilot Iroshizuku Ajisai fountain pen ink. Really beautiful color. Plus a nice-ish notebook for bullet journaling so I can force myself to be organized while using my fancy new pen and ink, and a cheap Staples notebook and a mechanical pencil for writing down new words I learn while reading this, which I got on Tuesday: Chinese edition of The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, a science fiction novel that has won China's Galaxy Award (their version of the Hugo Award, which it also won when it came out in English). I finally made it to page 4 and I've already added 60+ words to my little notebook, because most Chinese classes don't teach you words like nanomaterials or NATO liaison.
