Jose posted:someone post the story of the guy nearly dying and being in agonising pain while the ambulance and plane crew argue over who carries him into the ambulance From two pages ago, but I didn't notice anyone posting this so, here you go good goon https://chublicopinion.com/2015/12/06/the-unbearable-coldness-of-being-chinese/ quote:“If Everything is Cold.” The usually witty Cai Fanghua, a columnist for the Beijing Youth Daily, titled his recent WeChat post with apparent solemnity. The subject was the near-death experience of a fellow journalist, whose traumatic ordeal had stunned and incensed the public for the past two weeks. Oddly, the case has nothing to do with journalism or news reporting, but the protagonist’s profession did help make it a national front page story.

As horrifying it is that I will get China-ed, I will be going to a wedding reception somewhere north of the Border from HK next year in February. I will be up there for only a day or two but I will be taking in that glorious communist air one deep breath at the time before heading back to HK the enjoy the sights and sounds I have missed for so long. I will be sure to get plenty of photos to share with you fine gentlemen and ladies when I get back. I might as well ask, would it be worthwhile to renew my HKID while I am there (Not more than two weeks) or just travel on my New Zealand passport and use that to go north also. I am guessing I might have to get a visa? It is all very confusing even though I went to the HK website which are written by lawyers instead of normal people.

Years Hmm, I am not sure whether I could do it at the local consulate or not, as it only talks about First time applicants. I should just send them an E-mail about it assuming they ever reply. Also LOL, the turn around time is 6 - 8 weeks not including delivery. The NZ passport arrived inside the same week I applied for it. I might apply for it in HK, have it deliver it to my sister who would forward it to me. She can surely send it to me cheaper than their standard fees. The HKID isn't critical as I have zero plans of moving to HK. Looks like the laws haven't changed and I can get waved through with my current HKID. A small convenience. I will be using the NZ passport to go north though. gently caress you China.

You should still visit guys. China can be infuriating as a place to live but I 100000% recommend a three week or whatever vacation here. There's a ton to see, the food is fantastic, people are generally pretty nice. Vacation is a whole other thing than living in a place and nobody should have any reservations about doing that, China's a great place to visit (not in winter).

You literally just use it to enter HK through the smartcard stream and you're done. Bam. 2 year clock reset. If you mean apply for HKID then that's a little different, but it's still something you should do, and do in HK E: I suppose you may be someone with a Youth ID card wanting to upgrade? Anyway I've helped 2 people through "HK parents, I want a HKID card pls" process simplefish fucked around with this message at 07:27 on Dec 11, 2016 |

LOL, my HKID is old enough not to have a chip. Nah I have an Adult card and had it upgraded ages ago.. I just want it renewed or because laws or something as it talks about 30 days or some such. I won't be there for the delivery though and I think I can forward it. I wouldn't mind the assistance though. The Embassy site is a pro click if you want to see a bad government website. It's got broken tables. No text wrap around. 3 hours of service on three days a week. A Chunk of white space. It hasn't been updated in there years. Broken tables. Inconsistent centring. No internet payment. Based on the address there should be parking near there. I will be talking to the guy tomorrow in person so I can ask him about the process.

Apply first day( assuming being a walk in isn't too long)might try to make an appointment ahead of time and it looks like I might be able to push some info before going, make more appointments in line to when I get back from big 6. Better start digging for all those documents. *Looks some more* 10 working days ... I might have a chat with mother who handled it last time also. I don't want to stay for much longer than that.
