that's very nice. Would love to track one of those down.

It's a bit pricey. The copies I've seen are 35 bucks.

Brigid Mae Power - s/t

Two albums I'd love to get. I played Nisennenmondai at a post-pub gathering a month ago, Fan, rather than N'. They dug it so much that having told them it was a ten minute track they played the full 35 minutes or so three times. And I saw Brigid Mae Power play near my town back in September. She was absolutely amazing live and that record will be literally the first I buy when I scrounge together money for an amp, speakers and record player. I already have the BMP digital album from Bandcamp, but I want the record even if it will send me down a black hole of record buying brokeness.

So somehow I was able to order Emancipators first lp from the store site even though it's been sold out for two years. Apparently the package arrived today so wondering what it is I'll find.

The only news of a reprint are from a Reddit thread months ago and a discogs page that says one other person has it so :iiam:

If you've seen this great video of a Thai psyche band you might want to pick up their albums while they're 40% off with code 40days. I hear the first album is best but I haven't heard II at all.

They've got other artists on the label but I didn't bother to look, maybe they're more good stuff.

Is one album much much better than the other, or is this one of those "buy them both, thank me later" kind of things? That youtube video Snowy posted owns and I want to listen to that song on wax right now.

Now that I look at their site more, Innovative Leisure has a lot of releases by people I don't know. Anyone notice any standouts in there to check out during this sale? I'm a sucker for 40% off.

My coworker (whose taste I trust) said the first album is much closer to the character of the video and the second one, II, is a little overproduced. I'm going to check it out for myself though.

Kuhn Narin II is definitely more straight-forward and laid back in comparison, but I enjoy it. Considering it's a 40% off sale I'd say grab them both, but if we're talking one or the other, definitely pick up the first album.

Both of them are up in full on YouTube if you wish to compare and contrast.

Ughhh, be careful ordering from that site. On the last checkout page, it reverted my shipping choice from media mail to the $30 2-day shipping and I didn't notice. Now I get to see how good their customer service is.

e: they were quick to fix things, so yay!

Did some record shopping in Tokyo over the weekend on a couple days layover. Just wish I had more money to drop and more luggage space. Also that I could have found some full P5 instead of those excerpts and that the Flipper's Guitar stuff I found hadn't been so absurdly expensive. Like ¥35,000.

Those genres are always going to have a more lasting relationship with the format because of its history. Dance sub genres never gave up on it because it's the best to mix with (CDJs are for suckers and posers), while punk/metal/hardcore never gave up on it because until the popularity boom it was cheap and easy to press 7" and 12" records that were cool and appealed to the fan bases. Major labels are just happy to press basic cuts from the CD version of records on vinyl with the bare minimum effort for high prices while smaller artists see it as a way of doing more interesting releases.
