Update 74: The Abyssal King and His Servant

Getting Knife Mastery to 10 increases his regular attack damage with Knives by 11%. It also unlocked a new skill for him.

There is strength in numbers.

Tagen Battou (Translation: Plural Sword) is a bit of an odd skill. For one thing, this skill has its own damage formula. Basically the Ninja attacks all enemies on the field with Slash damage a random amount of times. However, the damage greatly increases when the Ninja has clones out. The more clones they have, the greater the damage is dealt per hit. But if the Ninja has no clones out, a very pitiful amount of damage is dealt. Any existing clones rejoin with the Ninja, adding on their HP and TP pools to the casters'.

The damage formula for the skill is as follows:

If the Ninja has no clones when casting the skill, the skill power is equal to Base Power * 0.5 * Skill Multiplier.

If the Ninja has at least one clone when casting this skill, the skill power is equal to Base Power * 2^X * Skill Multiplier where X is equal to the number of cloned units on the field, capping out at 6.

If you're using a solo Ninja, and manage to cast Bunshin 5 times, you can multiply this skill's damage output by 64! Which is insane, but considering that you need to be running a solo Ninja to pull that off, it's not a very practical way to get through the game. At any rate, at level 2, the base power of the skill is 52%, and the Skill Multiplier is 101%. It's okay when your Ninja can get 1 clone out, but stick with Takanoha if you're 6th party slot is occupied by a different Bunshin user.

Anyways, let's get on with the final boss.

Here's my setup for this fight.

Ready to go?

I do wish we stocked up on more supplies, but aside from that, I'd say I'm ready to fend off a potential assault.

I hope it doesn't reach that point, but if I must, I'm ready.

Right, let's go.

...It seems you’ve made it. Well done, Tidehunt.

The old woman continues speaking, casting a worried glance around the forest as she does.

I took steps to transfer the Princess elsewhere before His Majesty arrived. Now, all you have to do is stop him when he gets... here...

...He's behind us, isn't he?

The old woman trails off as you begin to feel a terrible presence from behind.

What the heck are you going on about!?

The Abyssal King sighs deeply, taking worrisome steps toward you.

H-Hey! Calm down! There's no fish person around here!

The Abyssal King’s voice is calm as he stops before you and casts his sharp gaze about the room.

That... thing... you all hide... Where is the false, evil-ridden Princess?

The Abyssal King’s gaze moves from you to the old woman next to you. Her countenance desperate, the old woman clings to the Abyssal Lord and pleads with him.

...My lord! It is me, Flowdia! I have been the Princess’ lady in waiting these 100 years! Princess Gutrune has waited for you, yearned for you... She has sacrificed her humanity for you!

The Abyssal King only knits his brow in response and brushes the desperate woman’s hands away.

You are a stranger to me. I know neither you nor this Princess you speak of...

With these harsh words, the Abyssal King extends a large, sharp blade from his arm.

Again, where is the evil-ridden Princess? Tell me, or I’ll kill you and carve it from this crone!

I don't think we can reason with him anymore! He's gone completely nutso!

We don't want to do this, but you're not giving us any more options here.

Fine. I didn't expect diplomacy to work anyway.

Their Own Brand of Justice is by far my favorite final boss theme in the entire series. You really should give this one a listen. It's a very fitting track for all the final bosses in this game.

Cruelty: Does not use a body part. Olympia blows herself up, dealing 100% Strike damage to the entire party, denying them experience points and her item drop. Has an action speed of +0. Has an accuracy of 99.

Out of all the final bosses in the game, the Automaton King and Olympia are generally agreed to be tougher than the Deep City's final boss. You have to deal with two enemies at once, which can easily overwhelm you if you aren't prepared.

Now before I go more into detail about them, there is one important thing I need to say. Kill Olympia first! And I'm not just saying that because she's a jerk that totally deserves it. If you kill the Automaton King first, this happens:

...Screw this, I'm not fighting all five of you by myself.

So you're giving up?

No.

That wasn't nice...

Cruelty blows up Olympia, so you don't have to fight her. Except...

Cruelty is also a suicide move, so you completely lose on the experience points she gives out and her item drop! And no, you can't get another copy of it or refight Olympia through normal means. You have to play through the entire game all over again to get another chance at her drop! Not only that, she actually has the more valuable drop of the two, since the Automaton King's drop just makes a sword that will eventually be outclassed, while Olympia's makes the Yggdroid's ultimate armor!

Let it be known that even to the very end, Olympia was a dick.

But Olympia only uses Cruelty if you kill the Abyssal King first. If you take her out first, that won't happen. Anyways, Automaton King is pretty much the heavy hitter. He's gonna be dealing most of the damage, while Olympia supports him. You should still take out Olympia first as she is capable of making both of them harder to kill, and can heal herself and the Automaton King.

I'm gonna get Protect Order going (though this was a misplay on my part, as I should have been just applying Attack Order throughout the fight instead.)

Cassandra will set up a clone.

Sidney will empower himself.

This fight is probably gonna take a while, so I want to cut down on my party's TP usage quite a bit.

Asteria will be chipping away at them with elemental damage.

You know, there is still time to back away from this.

Something tells me they don't want to do that.

We're gonna have to give it our all for this fight.

Leggo of me! Mmph mmph!

Oh, and bring lots of Theriaca As for this fight. Both the Automaton King and Olympia love throwing out binds.

And those will frequently prevent you from using your skills.

If I have to...

Faye's Head and Arms are bound, so she can't really do anything.

And guess who forgot to stock up on supplies for this fight? :downsbravo: I have absolutely no way of removing these binds now, so Faye and Sidney are sitting ducks.

At least Cassandra didn't get her arms bound, so she can protect the front row.

Thankfully Charge doesn't use a body part, so Sidney can still amplify his damage output.

Akatsuki has nothing better to do, so he'll just chip away at those two.

Asteria will chip away at Olympia as well.

Sidney is dangerously low on HP, so I'm gonna have Cassandra Bodyguard him.

Watch me soar!

Meh.

Outside of her regular attack, Olympia only has one skill that can deal damage, so she's not as scary as the Automaton King, but she's still very annoying to deal with.

I'm surprised that didn't fry you right away!

Olympia is best taken down with physical attacks, as she resists elemental attacks. Likewise, elemental attacks are your best method of damaging the Automaton King, as he resists physical blows.

Faye is still bound, so she's nothing but a sitting duck right now. But Sidney should be able to deal a decent amount of damage to Olympia, even without attack buffs.

Gonna have Asteria chip away at both a bit more with Meteor.

Not now...

What a waste!

Unfortunately, only the Automaton King took all the hits.

Look at that damage. That was without any damage buffs!

Faye finally got her head unbound, so she can use Unbind to get rid of the party's binds.

I'll have Akatsuki use a Theriaca B to get rid of Cassandra's Paralysis. At least I remembered to bring that.

My thanks.

Oh that's just great.

Sheesh, what are these restraints made out of!?

Assuming Faye doesn't get her head bound again, I'll have her heal the party.

AUGH!

Assuming she doesn't get taken out. I should've had both Cassandras Bodyguard Faye and Sidney.

Once someone drops below 81% of their maximum health, Olympia will start using Fortress every 5 turns. She'll cast it on whoever has lower HP at the time to increase their physical defense.

Hee hee! I don't feel nearly as bad shooting you! Here, have another!

Thanks for warning me, idiot.

Gonna have Cassandra use Antivolt this turn.

I can finally have Sidney buff himself properly.

I'll have Akatsuki revive Faye while Cassandra buys me a free turn.

I don't like the looks of that.

Miss Faye, are you alright?

Yeah... My head just... ugh... Just give me a minute.

Not on my watch!

Uzurai is a very hard hitting Volt attack that gets used every 6 turns as long as both the Automaton King and Olympia are both alive. You can use Antivolt on those turns to get yourself a free turn. If you somehow get the turn count to a multiple of 30, Olympia will prioritize helping out the Automaton King cast this skill instead of casting Fortress.

This is gonna hurt! You, I mean.

I don't trust Faye to heal the party in time, so I'll have Akatsuki patch up the front row as well.

Yeah, good thing I had Akatsuki use the Madora II.

Aegis Shield is up, so I'll use that to buy myself another free turn.

Try getting past this.

Okay.

...drat it!

Unfortunately, Aegis Shield does not block debuffs.

When Fortress wears off, it'll restore a large amount of HP to whoever the buff used to be on. Forcibly dispelling the buff through Ad Nihilo or a Metopon won't cause that to happen.

At the time I was playing through the fight, I didn't realize the buff already wore off. Oops. :downs:

...I'll admit that I don't know what I was trying to accomplish there.

Boom! Try repairing that!

And Olympia buffs herself again. But...

I can have Faye dispel that.

I could have had Asteria cast this earlier, but Faye's head was bound, so it would've dealt less damage due to the TEC penalty.

Oh no you don't.

Here's your ticket to the scrap heap!

But it doesn't look like he'll give up.

One down. Once Olympia goes down, the fight becomes a lot easier.

2896 points of damage, ouch.

That's not enough to dissuade you?

At this rate, if he keeps going on like this...

I try to go on the offensive and have Faye put up an Attack Order.

Here we go.

Guess he's still gotta lotta fight left in him...

I should note that a Prince/ss isn't that good of a class to bring to this fight. Mainly because of Liberation, which is Ad Nihilo on steroids. Not only does it dispel all buffs on the target, the damage increases with each buff that was on them. Buffing your party can be a death sentence in certain cases, as he is far more likely to use this skill the more buffs you have. On the other hand, the Automaton King and Olympia don't have any answer to debuffs, and a defense debuff can prevent Fortress from being applied.

But I'll just have Faye Resurrect him.

Ugh... D-drat it...

Or not.

I'll use the last of my Nectar IIs to revive them. I hope I don't have to use anymore, because I really should have stocked up on more supplies for this fight.

Thanks...

...For nothing.

Oops.

Maybe I should have had both Cassandras use Nectar IIs instead.

Is... is it over...?

Unfortunately, no. But I don't think he can keep at this for much longer. Just hang on, Faye.

Sorry, but I can't stick around anymore.

Up... and at em', Sid...

I accidentally selected Tagen Battou instead of Takanoha here.

Though Typhoon Bolt should deal a decent amount of damage to the Automaton King.

We are all sad.

Yeah, Tagen Battou deals a very pitiful amount of damage if you have no clones out.

I'm sorry... Everyone...

Shoot. Do we have anymore Nectars!?

No, we didn't bring that many!

And I'm out of Nectars.

Just for that, I'm giving you a double dose!

Ooh, Double Action proc, nice.

Rrrgh...

This fight is almost over now.

Once the Automaton King is low on HP, he'll start breaking out Punishment.

But eventually...

I'm sorry. We tried to be reasonable. Multiple times. But you just couldn't give up.

At least it's over now.

And with that, we've beaten Etrian Odyssey III.

Video: Ending and Credits

Out of all the credits music in the series, this track is my favorite of the bunch. No matter which path you chose, it's a very fitting theme to reflect on the events that happened.

Also this game's credits does a neat little thing where your maps are shown on the bottom screen. It's a nice little reminder of what you had to go through.

So that was Etrian Odyssey III. To this day, it's still my favorite game in the entire series. It certainly has its fair share of flaws, (The class balance is pretty much up there with EO2 as the worst in the entire series, for one) and I definitely would not recommend it to someone who's looking to get into the series, unless they don't own a 3DS. In which case, this is the easiest title to get into. If you do have a 3DS, I would recommend starting out with EO4 instead, as it is far more friendly to beginners.

But EO3 does have a lot going for it that just makes me enjoy it more than any of the other games. For one thing, the class portraits in this game are my favorite in the entire series. (I'll just say I was disappointed with EO4's class portraits and leave it at that.)

And the music! Overall, I love EO3's soundtrack a lot more than any of the other games'. I've already given my opinion on what I consider to be standout tracks throughout this LP.

And for better or worse, EO3 is a bit heavier on the story which definitely makes it a bit more of an interesting experience. Though personally, I'm not too big a fan of it. The reason why hasn't shown up in this LP though.

EO3 was a game I was really looking forward to show off. One of the reasons was that it's pretty much one of the biggest games in the series. Despite the reduced number of floors, there's a lot to do in the game, such as sailing and Sea Quests.

Not to mention it had the whole multiple endings aspect which hasn't been done again in any EO game. Though I understand why that's the case, as that does create additional factors to account for, especially considering that entire classes were gated behind the paths. And it does make 100% completion a bit of a pain. (If there's a remake of this game like how the first 2 EO games got remakes, I am curious as how that would be handled in Story mode.)

And as horrifically unbalanced as subclassing was, it definitely added something to the series and made character customization a lot more fun.

Still, I enjoyed showing off the game, and doing this LP helped me learn about the game even more. I mean for one thing, I never would have considered using a Farmer/Ninja in any other case, nor would I have found out how powerful one of those could be.

Oh and I do have to say that the QA for this game was much better than it was in EO2. (Let me just say the end of my EO2 LP had some very... magical moments.)

Is that girl STILL sleeping?

Can ya blame her? Faye took quite a beating in that battle. I'm still aching from what they did to me!

Still, for someone to be sleeping that long is a bit unnatural.

I'll go check on her. Maybe that battle took a bigger toll on her than we thought.

Mmm...

Something wrong, Charlotte?

It's just... When I was sent to assist you, slaying the Abyssal King was not what anyone had in mind. For the record, I don't blame any of you for what happened, but it's a shame things had to turn out that way.

He attacked us first. Any bit of diplomacy we tried went out the window when that happened. But hey, it's all over now. We reached the bottom of the Labyrinth, and put an end to whatever was going on with you guys.

Speaking of which, what's gonna happen with the Tidehunt Guild now?

Once Faye wakes up, I suppose we'll officially disband it. There's nothing else for us to do after all.

Aww, does it have to be over?

Nothing lasts forever, Fang. I enjoyed my time with you all, but I do have to get back home. Oh, Asteria! How's Faye do- ...Is something wrong?

F-Faye! She's... she's... she's not breathing!

Thank you for reading.

Probably the most interesting aspect of EO3 for me was that descent underwater. The first game had you descend into a series of labyrinths under a giant tree, the second has you go up a giant tree. In EO3, there's a giant tree...underwater. Underwater stuff fascinates and unnerves me, even though this is a dungeon crawler and not some underwater sim or anything.

And, where there is treasure, there will be Air Pirates.
So you only get the ultimate Yggdroid armour in the path where you can't use Yggdroids :psyduck:. And I'm going to assume that in the Deep City path you fight Kujura to get the ultimate Shogun armour. I know NG+ is a thing in these games, but that still seems rear end-backwards.

Makes sense from another direction, though. To get the ultimate Yggdroid armor, you need to fight the ultimate yggdroids - which can't happen if you work for them.

Update 75: Failure

The girl looks at you, her gaze cold, as if the two of you had never before met.

In the depths of the Porcelain Forest is a teleporter. Use it to travel to where the 'evil' waits. Destroying it will be your only atonement for the sin you have committed... So says Yggdrasil. That is all...

With that, the girl leaves from your sight.

Tch. Can you believe the nerve of that jerk?

I wonder what sin she was referring to.

Probably the fact that we had to kill the Abyssal King. He also said something about an evil that lives in the depths. I guess Guild Tidehunt isn't done with the Labyrinth yet. What do you think, Cassie, should we disband, or help them out?

...For now, let's just report back to the Senatus.

But why did Master Seyfried turn his blade against the Princess and I...? Alas... There’s no way of knowing now no matter how carefully I consider the problem. But enough of such talk. Would you like to see the Princess?

I suppose it can't hurt to hear what she has to say.

It seems my brother Seyfried had surrendered his human form and become Yggdrasil’s puppet... He may have worn my brother’s face, but he had not a human heart left inside him. ...Though in truth, the same could be said for myself. I have harnessed a wicked power to live so long in pursuit of my brother. I, too... am inhuman. I spend my days within the confines of this royal forest so that the wicked power does not consume me. ...But I fear this long life of mine no longer has a purpose. ’Tis sad, but my dream is dead. I thank you regardless. Now... Please leave me...

I am Olympia. I am an automated soldier created and directed by Yggdrasil to hunt evil. My directive is to cooperate with you in this Deep City until the evil that sleeps is exterminated. The rest of my memory banks are... empty.

Oh geez, I think I hit her a little too hard back then.

I'm surprised that she managed to survive that.

A-Anyways uh, about our guild...

Let's check out that teleporter first. Then see what everyone else thinks.

Can't say I was expecting this.

I-I-I see e-eyes on the walls.

I'm starting to get the jibblies. We really should go back.

Alright. Hopefully people are willing to help us out with this.

Are you kidding me!? After they already killed one of us!? Screw them and whatever the hell they want!

...I see. That was... vocal. What about the rest of you?

...I dunno. I guess I'll think about it.

Mmm...

Tch. Do whatever you want, I'm out of here. Come on, Susan.

I suppose this is goodbye, then. Good luck with whatever it is you need to do.

And the name's MEGAQUEEN!

The Abyssal King once told me to manage this inn for explorers, and I intend to honor that duty. Feel free to stop by if you need to rest or stay the night.

That is the purpose of we automated soldiers, after all.

She really has lost all her memories...

Yeah, I gotta say... I don't think I'm up for this.

I see. Well, thanks for telling us how you really feel.

No hard feelings, I hope. Sorry, but from the way you described the place, I don't think I would be cut out for whatever you all have to go through. But I'll be wishing you luck! Maybe we'll meet again someday.

So, why aren't you allowed to help us out?

Our strength surpasses that of mere humans. But we cannot go with you unless Yggdrasil permits it.

Ouch. It must be really bitter about the death of the Abyssal King.

I'm surprised that trees can actually hold grudges.

Sorry, but this isn't really fun anymore. So I'm leaving too.

Well, I don't know how many people would find constantly risking their lives in such a dangerous place to be fun, but this is probably for the best. Especially for someone as young as you.

Stay safe out there, kiddo.

I know you are strong. However, you must rest sometimes. Humans cannot be fixed if they are broken.

Okay, it's really weird to see her actually being concerned for us. Like, reeeeaaally weird.

I'm not sure how to feel about the Olympia we know being gone...

You too, Miss Alice?

I'm sorry, but I don't think I would be very helpful to you all. I'd probably just get in the way...

Nonsense! You'd be very helpful!

Especially after nearly everyone else left. You and Charlotte are the only ones left, and she hasn't made her decision yet.

Um... I'm sure she'd be a lot more useful than I could ever be. And b-besides, I really need to get home.

I... I understand. Goodbye, Miss Alice.

I'm sorry. Goodbye.

You must not let down your guard. If you miscalculate at this stage, you will meet a gruesome fate. Be careful.

Charlotte, are you leaving as well?

...No. I was sent here to assist you. The Tidehunt guild still has business in the Labyrinth. So I intend to stick with you to the very end, until this is all over. Besides I need to make sure Akatsuki makes it out alive so he can get back together with Alice.

Huh? What did ya say?

Nothing! Nothing! You heard nothing!

Prepare yourselves fully and rest well before attempting this final challenge. May you come back alive.

Let's hope our trip is successful.

Um, Cassandra?

What?

I know our target is right there, but don't you think it would be best to explore the rest of this floor, first?

What's the point? All we're supposed to do is to take down this “evil.” Does it matter if we explore every inch of this hellhole or not?

But... I suppose if you think that's the best course of action to take.

Bring it on ya... What the hell are ya, anyway?

Cassandra! This was a bad idea! We need to retre-

And you call me impulsive.

F-F-Faye!?

Sup? I've just been hanging out in this black... death... void place. Or whatever it is-ACK! LET GO OF ME CASSIE!

Sorry. Do you have any idea how devastated we were when you... you...!?

Yeah uh, I saw all that when you all just kind of fell apart. Really, I'm kind of disappointed a lot of you just gave up. But hey! We can fix all that, you know?

...Faye, you realize we're dead, right?

Um, I know it's been a while since we all died together and got sent here, but you know I can just bring us back, right?

Oh, right. Wait, why didn't you try to bring yourself back before?

...Hey, I tried! But uhhh... I forgot how. Hey, don't look at me like that! It's been a long time since I had to do this.

So we're basically stuck in limbo or whatever forever?

Hang on! I didn't say I gave up on that! Now uh, wait a minute while I try a couple of things.

You didn't think this Let's Play was over, did you? Oh no, there's a lot more left to cover.

Yes, I am covering the Deep City path (and as a result, you'll get to see the Yggdroid in action.) Though I won't be covering the whole game again, as not that much changes. Though if you're interested in submitting a Yggdroid character, you should probably start coming up with your submissions now, as I'll start opening up applications for that class very soon.

As a reminder, if you already have a character in this LP (These people:)

I'll never get over Etrian Odyssey's translations. The other two messages are gramatically correct, too! (if only because they both start with a King, where using "the" is appropiate, but the second actually has Olympia as a name without "the", what the hell?)

And, where there is treasure, there will be Air Pirates.
Name: Smith
Class: Yggdroid
Portrait: 3

Bio: It turns out that when a giant telepathic tree tells you how to make robot supersoldiers and you have an underwater city that needs cleaning, knowledge of how to make said robot supersoldiers tends to get co-opted. One of the results of which is Smith. Armed only with his trusty cyber-mop, Smith was tasked with cleaning and maintaining the Deep City, which is no small task even for an untiring robot - the roof tends to leak, see. Despite many attempts to join the Yggdroid army, Smith was always denied his rightful calling and pointed straight back to that stubborn stain in the hallway carpet. So when he happened to overhear a conversation about a guild on the surface looking for robot recruits, Smith quietly finished cleaning up the latest spillage, slung his mop bucket over his back and headed straight for Armoroad. As a janitor, Smith does not have the array of lasers and blades that come standard on most Yggdroids, but he's hoping to pick up a few combat tips from the guild members and put his natural robotic strength to use.

Thanks to being repeatedly rejected from the army, Smith has cultivated an amiable, easygoing personality just to spite those uptight military droids and their synthesised "AFFIRMATIVE" barks. Everyone knows they only do that to show off anyway. While he's generally amiable enough to get on with just about anyone (outside the Deep City military, anyway), don't let him see you littering or generally making a mess. Just don't.

It's not really the translation, it's due to how the generic battle text is formatted. I mean there are special cases for the final bosses (the introduction to Armoroad's final boss is "The Abyssal King and Olympia have appeared!" instead of the generic "Monsters have appeared!") But they didn't have too many special cases for stuff like that.

Also, I didn't really open up the sign ups for a Yggdroid yet. :v: But you know what? No harm in posting them now. Go ahead and post your Yggdroid submissions.

Though I won't be taking a serious look at them until the next update gets posted, so you have plenty of time to come up with one. If you want some inspiration, the key item to unlock Yggdroids is called the Yggdroid Plan, so make of that what you will.

And apparently, you can speedrun this game in about an hour and a half. It mostly involves using RNG manipulation to grind on Hammerhead for early levels, using RNG manipulated Hellfire to kill the early bosses, and then abusing Wild Mastery and RNG manipulation to instant death the stratum 4 and 5 bosses.

It's actually the fastest EO game to speedrun. The fact that you can instantly kill every boss aside from Gatekeeper and the Abyssal God probably has something to do with that. The Armoroad path is actually the fastest route period. Deep City has a bunch of other stuff to make it the slowest one.

The slowest EO game to speed run is actually the very first game. The fastest any% run for that one apparently clocks in at over 8 hours. All the other EO games range from around 2 hours to 5.

Update 76: Do-Over

As if tacitly admitting it, the Senatus ruling over Armoroad have invited explorers to their city. The invitation drew throngs of eager explorers who gathered to traverse the undersea maze. But none of the throngs who came to challenge that maze were strong enough to master it. The impenetrable ruins came to be known as the Yggdrasil Labyrinth, and its legend spread further... You yourself are an explorer who has heard its legend and now sail to Armoroad to investigate. Your only objective: to challenge the Labyrinth and win fame and fortune. Your hour is at hand!

Welcome to New Game +! Once you beat one of the final bosses in this game, this option permanently replaces starting a regular new game. This was feature added to Etrian Odyssey III due to the whole multiple endings aspect (The first two games didn't have this since it would be fairly pointless there.) Now Etrian Odyssey III's version of NG+ is a bit primitive compared to how the later games handled it. For one thing, those games let you choose what to carry over into your second playthrough. This game doesn't do that, but I'll get into more detail a bit later. Now if you're trying to go for 100% completion and are just trying to get the endings out of the way as soon as possible, it's best to do them before you jump into the post-game. Now before you start your second playthrough, make sure to turn in the mission to whoever you sided with to get the reward. Now if you sided with Armoroad...

You would get the Armoroad Emblem, which is a very nice accessory that increases a bunch of your stats and increases your HP pool by a ton. It's a nice accessory for more fragile classes, especially the Shogun, which is exclusive to the Armoroad path.

And now that we've completed the Armoroad path, we get a new icon on the Guild Card. Yeah, been a while since we've taken a look at this thing.

Anyways, unlike when the game was first started, we can head to places other than the Explorer's Guild.

Huh? Whoa, aren’t you with that Tidehunt guild everyone’s been talking about? Everyone I’ve met from Tidehunt has been really amazing. Well, best of luck to you all too! ...Oh, I almost forgot. Since you guys are part of the same guild, you can claim the items they left!

Uh, we're the ones that left this stuff here in the first place.

On a NG+, all of your items (Not counting key items) are kept, as well as anything you had in storage.

Wha!? We're not new! We're the ones that founded the guild in the first pla-MMPH MMPH!

Sorry! He doesn't like being called a rookie. Faye. What did you do?

I dunno. I was just trying to bring us back.

Then welcome to Napier’s Firm. I’ll cut the pleasantries short, as you surely know them already. Thanks to the achievements of your predecessors, my Firm now has the finest stock in Armoroad. You should thank your betters for being able to enjoy the fruits. I hear that Tidehunt has quite a bankroll build up... I look forward to your custom.

Yeah for some reason, this game tries to justify the existence of NG+ in a really awkward way. Don't get used to them having more dialogue, that's just for the first time we revisit them. They all still have their floor dialogue for the appropriate floor. Anyways, all of our money is kept, and any items we unlocked stay unlocked.

Anyways, the Abyssal King and Olympia dropped a few items when we beat them. Let's take a look at what they unlock.

The Durandal is a very nice Sword, but it's not the ultimate Sword. There are a few others that outclass it, but all of those are made from the drops of post-game bosses. If you have a Gladiator and are just rushing through the game to get the other endings, there's no harm in buying one.

Now the Carbide Armor makes the ultimate armor for the Yggdroid, the class that we haven't unlocked yet. It provides a lot of defense, and a 10% reduction to all forms of physical damage.

Of course in order to actually use this piece of equipment, you have to play through the game twice. For the record, Shoguns don't have it much better. Their ultimate Katana also requires 2 playthroughs to unlock. Though unlike the Carbide Armor, the drop that unlocks theirs can't be lost permanently.

That's us! The new recruits to Tidehunt! Okay, what happened to the people that used to run this guild?

Maybe everyone got drain bamage or something.

I’ve have been hearing about you! Hello! You can take on missions called ”requests” here. Though, considering how much your guild-mates liked quests, there might not be many left! Still, be dropping in on me once in a while! I will be looking forward to seeing you!

For the record, there aren't any NG+ exclusive bar patrons.

Wow, she's right. The request board is cleaned out!

Oh, and here's something important to know about EO3's NG+. Any quests you've finished cannot be redone in future playthroughs. Didn't get the best result for a quest and wanted to try again? Too bad. You made your bed, now lie in it. While the exp gain would be a bit of a pittance to a level 50+ party, it does make grinding up other party members a bit harder. Now if any quests were left unfinished in the previous playthrough, you can't start them again until you get to the appropriate floor.

The old lady at the Senatus told me about you. You’re the newbie in Tidehunt, right? I’m sure the veterans in your crew explained the details to you, so we can skip the formalities. Newbie or not, should be nothing to worry about if you’re in Tidehunt. Just do your best.

You know, I got the feeling something like this happened before.

Yes, back when we first reached the Deep City, we went back in time because... Oh! Faye! Maybe she's-

What's up everyone?

Faye, you're back!

HEY HEY! EASY ON THE GUTS!

Aw come on, you can't handle a little bear hug?

In NG+, all of your guild members will transfer over to your second playthrough. Levels, skill points, equipment, retirements, and any increased stats through the use of books will remain intact.

Oh and speaking of skill points, I won't be going into my party's skill builds for a while, as that's not really something to worry about in replaying the game on a NG+. Unless you go with all new party members for some reason.

Does someone mind explaining why everyone thinks we're new?

We're just as clueless as you. Yes, that would be us!

Well, that says it all. Tidehunt’s private ship should already be ready for you. Use it to venture out into the great sea and beyond. Who knows? We may not have seen it all yet. I expect great things from you, just as I did from your mates.

You get your ship back with all its upgrades already unlocked, though you can't rename it. As you can see, all of our sailing progress is kept, since we still have the maps filled in. This also includes any discoveries you made.

And any Sea Quests that were completed stay completed.

By the way, have any of you seen Charlotte?

She wasn't with you?

No, we the rest of us thought she was with you. What happened with her anyway? The others said they left the Tidehunt guild too, when we met up at the Explorer's Guild.

She was the only one to stick with us and assist us in the trip down to the 6th Stratum. Then we all failed to slay the evil there. So we met up with Faye again in that... Oh no.

You left her behind!?

...Uhhh, maybe? H-Hey, w-we'll figure out a way to get her out. Later.

Incidentally...

It was even livelier in the past, you know. Perhaps one day I’ll ask you for help in that regard. But don’t worry about that just yet. Focus on your duties at hand, and we’ll meet again in due time.

The Harbormaster actually has dialogue for before your Guild enters the Labyrinth. However, it's impossible to see on your first playthrough, since you get kicked out immediately when you don't have the ship. Which requires entering the Labyrinth to even get.

The is the Senatus, ruling seat of Armoroad. I am the recognized representative of that body. Well, if you’re a member of Tidehunt, that’s all I need to know about your prowess. I’ll waive the initiation mission for you, but I may call on your skills in the near future. The Senatus has high hopes for any members of Tidehunt... Do try not to disappoint us!

Initiation missio- HOW FAR DID YOU SEND US BACK!?

Oh, we asked around, and it turns out we got sent back to the very beginning. Thanks a lot, Faye.

Eh heh heh, oopsie?

So we have to do that all over again?

If you're all up for it. I mean if you don't want to...

And if you do, I'll let you rejoin on one condition. No ditching us like that again! Guild Tidehunt doesn't need any quitters!

Well, truth be told, I only left because Rose forced me to come with her. I'm all for lending my assistance again!

...Sure, why not? It's not like I have anything better to do. And uh, sorry for leaving you all like that.

Since you keep your maps (sort of, I'll explain more about that in a bit) you get to skip the first mission entirely. The later games got around this issue by having it so that the first mission was unrelated to mapping (EO4) or added more requirements to making a map so it was still possible to go through the mission without having to put in no effort (EOU and EO2U.) Oh and any discoveries you've made in the Senatus' records are also kept.

No access to the Deep City at this time, or any of the later Strata.

Unfortunately, we can't access the maps of the other floors on a NG+. Just the first floor for now.

Any shortcuts that were previously unlocked now have to be unlocked again.

Events can also be redone.

Hey, who raided these chests?

I think we did.

However, any chests you've opened stay empty on subsequent playthroughs. So those Coupons you got? Yeah, those are actually a one time deal. There really is no way to get more of them. Save those for the ultimate equipment.

I remember when we used to be scared of those.

None of the monsters got an upgrade in NG+, so you're free to rampage through the Labyrinth as you please.

Didn't we have the key for these doors?

I know we did, but I can't find it.

Huh, I'm pretty sure we're missing something else too.

As for what key items you keep, you keep every script and hammer you find, so you'll always have access to those Limit skills and Forges. And as for normal key items, you keep everything except for the Moon Key and the Starry Shard for some reason.

Once you go down to the next floor...

Is this our map?

It looks like it. This is even our handwriting and everything. I wonder what it was doing on the ground.

Once you get to a new floor, you'll get your map of it back, with every single marking you made. So yeah, since there isn't much to do on a NG+, it's very easy to speed through the game with your fully leveled party. If you just keep rushing through the game, a playthrough to check out a different ending can take about 2 hours at most.

Oh, we're veterans.

Heeeey, we're serious!

Kujura will still mock you for choosing that option, despite it actually being true this time. :v:

YOU! I- MMRRGGHH!

Cassie. Calm down. Remember, we haven't met her yet at this time.

I didn't see it before, but part of her true body is visible underneath that cloak.

Huh. How did we not notice that? She's not doing that great of a job hiding it.

I just wanna know how those headphones are covering up those spikes on the side of her head.

The story itself doesn't change, unless you choose a different path later on.

Yeah, we'll keep an eye out for him. And uh, you should be careful. Like, really careful. The Labyrinth's a dangerous place, you know?

For the record, I'm not showing off the whole game again. I'll just be skipping around to show off the relevant stuff.

Oh yeah, that mushroom event? Turns out that can be done twice, as there are mushrooms on this tile as well.

Indeed, we are explorers. I am Akatsuki. It is nice to meet a fellow Ninja.

Oh, we'll do better than avoiding it...

BOOM! HEE HEE HEE!

Who are you guys...? Oh, wait, I haven’t even introduced myself yet, huh? My name’s Agata. I’m the ninja leader of the Murotsumi guild. Nice to meet ya!

You recall hearing the boy’s name some time ago in a previous conversation... The girl calling herself Hypatia said she was searching for a boy by this name. It might be best to tell this boy that Hypatia was looking for him.

Yeah, the game actually takes into account if you decided to fight the thing (and win) instead of avoiding it. While that Easter Egg can be seen on your first playthrough, it would be very difficult to pull off without grinding excessively. The rest of the conversation goes like before, so I'll skip ahead again.

Unfortunately, one of the most annoying parts about a NG+ playthrough is having to deal with the roadblocks. While they were mildly annoying on a first playthrough, they served as good stopping points so you didn't push yourself too far. Now, when you're rampaging through a Labyrinth with a very overleveled party? Yeah they're annoying to run into when you're trying to speed through the game.

Oh and your mission log gets cleared out. You still keep every completed quest in the quest log. Only the first mission is skipped entirely, you still have to come back to the Senatus to accept the rest of them.

...Sure. I guess we could use the help.

Let's get this over with.

Hey, you think we can take it down before it runs away this time?

It's worth a shot!

So you know that whole song and dance with Narmer running away when its HP drops below half, and having to chase it down again while avoiding a bunch of Bog Lurkers?

What do you know? We can.

You can just kill it in the first fight, nothing's stopping you from doing that (Unlike a certain bloody bear in EO4...) It's possible to pull off in your first playthrough, though doing so is really unlikely.

Anyways, onto to the 2nd Stratum!

You should go back. Like really, stop before you get yourselves in too deep.

Hypatia and Agata's little subplot is still takes place here.

You haven’t yet reported back to the Senatus after your subjugation of Narmer. You should make haste to report this momentous accomplishment to the Senatus.

You know, we should probably turn in that mission before we go any farther.

Why's that?

Remember, Olympia is waiting to murder us. ...There's a sentence I never thought I would say.

At least this roadblock is fairly generous, and can be avoided entirely by going back to town to hand in your mission report.

Missions don't really reward that much to a NG+ party. Anyways, back to the part where Olympia tries to murder us.

Yeah... Great to see you, too.

Why can't we just out her for what she did?

Those trees are in the way. We need her to clear them out, and I don't think we can clear all those out ourselves.

Yeah, thanks. I think we can handle ourselves. Snrk.

Aww, how cute. They think we're trapped in here with them!

Three utterly brutal fish filletings later...

That was fun! I wonder how Olympia would react if we brought all these fish corpses to her.

As funny as that would be, I don't think we should give her that big of a heart attack.

Aww...

For the record, there's no dialogue for killing all the fish.

Hi there!

Hey, nothing's impossible for us!

Yeah, you better run!

Alright, let's go-

Shouldn't we report this to the Senatus first?

Ugh, fiiiiiiine.

Skipping ahead again.

Oh yeah, remember the end of their little subplot?

Mmm... Nope! Nuh-uh! We don't know a thing! Sorry kid, you'll have to give up.

Sheesh, why do you have to be like that...? Fine! If I go this way, I’ll get there eventually!

The boy tries to beckon to his astrologer companion, but she seems extremely reluctant to go. Agata sighs before leaving on his own, but still Hypatia does not budge an inch. You are now concerned for both of them... Should you talk to Hypatia or pursue Agata?

...REALLY!?

Hey, if we hurry, we can still catch up to him!

You assume that she is here due to her concern for Agata, but then a sickening noise resounds! The female astrologer darts off toward the nest alone quicker than you can react! The fiend ahead is too dangerous for her alone! You must hurry and reach the fish’s nest first!

Oh no no no, not again!

...Um, that's different.

At the boy’s feet is the girl, collapsed as though asleep. He begins to tell you of her fate...

The boy continues, his tone flat and dead.

She said she came exploring here with her dad when she was little. She said her dad died to protect her. She made herself forget because it hurt too much not to. But she said her memories came back when I was fighting the fish. She saved my life, and... She said she was sorry how her dad died to save her so long ago. That’s why she was grateful... She got to make up for it by saving someone special to her...

The boy’s voice is nothing more than a hoarse whisper by now as he looks to you and nods.

You see him off sadly before you recall your original reason for being here. You move on...

...Excuse me for one second. :bang:

Um, didn't you say the boy was the one to die last time?

Uh, look on the bright side. At least you saved him this time?

UGH! IS ALL THIS SOME KIND OF SICK JOKE OR SOMETHING!? Forget it, let's just hunt down Olympia.

Oh yeah, remember when I said you were responsible for killing Agata and saying no could have saved him? Saying no does keep him alive, it's just that Hypatia dies instead. I'm afraid there's no way to save both of them. You see, their real purpose in the story is to show how dangerous the Labyrinth truly is. Carelessness will get you killed.

Not that a NG+ party has to worry about that. :v:

Oh and unless you were grossly overleveled, you were forced to go through the entire floor to avoid these FOEs.

Out of our way!

But if you are, you can just kill this Scaled Dragon to skip this entire floor.

Pfft, that all you got?

Oh and if you were wondering if you can just place this at the stream on the 6th floor right away...

You can't. You have to report back to the Senatus first before you can do that.

Yeah, yeah.

Heard it all before.

Should we say it?

Go ahead.

Hey Olympia?

Go screw yourself!

Ha ha ha, nice one! Woo!

I see... Then you cannot be allowed within the walls of the Deep City. Come with me...

The girl reaches out a metallic arm and forces you to follow her...

Hey, quit shoving!

Olympia looks deep into your eyes and continues.

Those who refuse us cannot be allowed to remain in this city.

With those words, the girl pushes you into the Submagnetic Pole... The pillar of light you're forced against warmly envelops you in a blinding flash!

What a jerk.

I know!

Are we telling them about the Deep City?

We are SO telling them about the Deep City.

You found the Deep City, I hope? That magnificent place sunk beneath the ocean’s waves!?

Oh we found it alright. There was a big tree and everything.

Really...!? You actually found the fabled Deep City...? ...Then we should soon find out what happened to him... You wait here. I’m going to fetch the Princess that we might tell her in person of the Deep City.

I am the princess of Armoroad, Gutrune. Finding the Deep City has long been my fondest wish. The royal records say it is a land cut off from Armoroad, sunk with our countrymen still living there. We do not know the reasons for its separation or what powers sustain its undersea existence... But I worry the descendants of our people are now suffering in the depths of the ocean. Thus, I’d like to send a missive and gifts to the Deep City on behalf of Armoroad. I had Armoroad’s most reputable merchants prepare their finest gifts for the occasion. I’ve also selected a supervisor to deliver them. I’d like to introduce her to you as well.

The conversation continues as normal. Skipping ahead again.

Once you talk with the Abyssal King, subclassing becomes available again.

But now, onto the 3rd Stratum.

Oh, right. Olympia's the one that had that key.

Elephants eat fish, right?

Yep!

Dinner time, Mr. Elephant!

What!? Elephants don't eat fish!

Two tasty meals later...

...I stand corrected.

I never want to see anything like that ever again.

Nature can be very horrific.

Ehh...

Kujura talks to us about our choices.

...You're just gonna stand in our way again, huh? Fine.

After being forced to leave again, and coming back to this place...

So the missions to determine your path are available now. But you know what? I don't feel like taking them now.

I will never get tired of seeing Alice dunk on FOEs. :allears:

You casually hail the young man.

What's up, Kujura? What are you doing here?

How did you know that?

If that’s so, leave now. Those who come here without a purpose will die needlessly. If you wish to go ahead, make your choice: either you serve Armoroad, or the Deep City.

If you wish to continue forth, you must accept a mission from either Armoroad or the Deep City.

Really? REALLY!? FINE! We'll pick one of your stupid sides.

Are you sure about this, Faye?

Yeah, I'm positive. I'll be honest, part of me just wants to see what happens. I mean come on, we might be able to, I dunno, change something this time? I mean I changed who died back in the 2nd Stratum if that counts. And we probably wouldn't have to fight those two again if we side with them. And you know, not kill them this time.

Hmm, you do make a good point.

...I see. I can't say I'm entirely against this as well. Something about siding with the Senatus seemed a bit off. Disturbingly enough, Flowdia didn't seem to be all that concerned with the Deep Ones. Not to mention, the reason Gutrune was targeted and all that talk about her being inhuman. I wonder what that was about...

What about siding with these people? Didn't they try to kill us too?

...I'm not comfortable with that idea either, but I don't see a better option at the moment.

Alright then, I guess we're all in agreement. Sooo...

We accept!

Yep, I'm covering the Deep City path in this LP as well. This is where things really start to get a bit more different.

You have seen the Deep Ones. Hundreds, thousands of them lurk in that abyss... And the evil that unifies them... It is too strong. Humans have no means to stand against it. Foolhardy indeed... But man is regrettably blind to his own foolishness. Before you leave on your mission, there is something I must caution you against... Past the undersea cavern is the colossal Gatekeeper, created by Yggdrasil to block the path. It has the power to block the Deep Ones from entering here. Humans haven’t a prayer against it. For now, we use its power to buy time until the day we may use Yggdrasil’s power in true battle. Hence, you must go to any lengths to ensure the invader does not reach and destroy the Gatekeeper. If for any reason the invader is allowed to slay the Gatekeeper... Our plans must be reconsidered. Should this come to pass, report to me at once. I will be here praying it does not. That is the long and the short of this mission. Your task is an urgent one. Do not fail us.

Um, okay. I think we can get this done. How hard can it be to protect a giant robot?

The young man smiles sardonically and continues, his gaze aimed at the door further in.

If we follow divergent paths, so be it. But if you think that you can stop me...

With that, Kujura lays a hand on the katana on his shoulder and lets fly with a piercing aura! In response, you tighten your guard, to which Kujura reacts with a crooked smile.

Don't try any funny business now.

...You are sorely mistaken, Guild Tidehunt.

If you leave him be, he could destroy the Gatekeeper! You must give chase and stop him from proceeding any further before that happens!

Oh no, this isn't good!

After him!

I should note that in the Armoroad path, you could prepare for the Stratum boss after walking through the door, and walk into it when you're ready.

It must be the colossal Gatekeeper dispatched to prevent an incursion by the Deep Ones.

Shoot, where'd he go!?

He must've given us the slip.

What you do not see in the room, however, is any sign of Kujura. And to make matters worse, the colossal construct catches sight of you, making a dire sound...

...Don't tell me.

W-We should get out of here!

I can't open the doors! They're stuck!

Oh, he's a crafty one alright.

KUJUUURRRAAAAAA! :argh:

In the Deep City path, the boss battle starts the moment you walk through the door.

The Gatekeeper isn't really a threat, but I'm gonna try to go for its conditional drop. In its current form, that is.

And Fang's Arm Bind managed to land.

We messed up, didn't we?

Yep.

The Abyssal King is not going to be happy about this.

Well, we utterly screwed up that mission, but hey! At least I got the conditional drop.

Looking around, Kujura is still nowhere to be seen. He must have fled after using you as a decoy. You mull over whether you should report to the Abyssal King or attempt to pursue Kujura.

Tch! I can't believe he tricked us like that!

I should have expected as much from someone who could go toe to toe with Olympia, and traverse the Labyrinth all by himself.

I never really thought about it before, but I wonder how strong he really is. Anyways, he seems to be long gone by now. We should probably just move onto the next Stratum.

And onto the 4th Stratum.

You should have a directive from the Abyssal King. You are obliged to report back about that first.

She seems bent on preventing you from passing until you report back to the Abyssal King.

We're going to have to take responsibility for what happened sooner or later. We may as well do it now.

Faye.

Lemme just sell this first, okay?

The Deathbringer isn't actually the ultimate Gun, but it's the 2nd most powerful one. It can be useful for letting Buccaneers build up Limit more easily, but I vastly prefer Rapiers.

You won’t regret that choice, I hope. I know the Princess will be saddened to hear it...

Sorry, but we kinda agree with their position more.

Faye.

Uh, I gotta get going.

Oh and there is specific town dialogue for each of the paths. I'll be sure to show off the ones exclusive to the Deep City path.

Time to hand in our report about our catastrophic failure.

Yeah, it was either us or it.

He got away too!

We are deeply sorry about what happened.

I see little reason to dwell on the mistake. What we must do now is determine how best to proceed. Beyond the Gatekeeper’s posting is a path leading to the Abyssal Shrine, now a nest of Deep Ones. Any ordinary human who strays into that place will immediately fall prey to those fiends. What does that man expect to do if he ventures forth...? I admit, I am somewhat troubled, but... I must thank you for the attempt, failed or no. Keep up the effort.

Yeah, the Abyssal King is surprisingly chill about what we did. Oh, and this isn't our only reward.

Uggggghhhhhh.

They are powerful mechanical soldiers, created by the supreme intellect of Yggdrasil. Whether they ease your burden all depends on you. Try not to fail us next time, mm?

Like with the Armoroad Path, once you complete the Deep City's version of this mission, you get a new class as a reward. Unfortunately, unlike the Shogun, this one is FAR less useful.

Once you’ve recruited a mechanical ally and prepared yourself, I’ll need your help once more. I have a task for you inside the undersea shrine where the Deep Ones dwell. But first, rest.

We'll check that out later. But first, let's see what the Abyssal King has to say.

The power stored in Yggdrasil’s branches has the power to restore the guardian over time. Rather than fret over such things, direct your efforts to what you are capable of accomplishing.

Yeah, fairly chill and reasonable about what happened. Anyways, let's take a look at the new class.

Now that we sided with the Deep City, we can make Yggdroids. Now if we did the Deep City path first, we wouldn't be able to make Shoguns. However on a NG+, the game remembers if you've unlocked the class in a previous playthrough, so these classes are permanently unlocked.

In fact, this is the only way to get a Yggdroid with a Shogun sub.

So... Yggdroids. I'm gonna be blunt, I hate this class. I don't think it's useful for all that much. Their skillset is just a complete and utter mess. They have way too many gimmicky skills, and anything they can do, other classes can do better. The only redeeming factors Yggdroids have is that they're fairly durable, and are completely immune to binds. I really can't summarize what Yggdroids can do all that well, because their skillset is simply all over the place. If you really want to know what they can do, just read their Class Showcase.

Hmm, I think we could maybe build one of our own Yggdroids with these plans.

Do we have to build one? It sounds hard.

Considering that we're siding with the Deep City now, I'm sure we could find Yggdroids living in there that are willing to assist us as well. What do you think Faye?

Hmm... Give me a while to think about it. If we can't find anyone willing to help us, I guess we could build our own.

Oh, and fun little fact about the Yggdroid portraits. They're actually classified as different models in the artbook (This has absolutely no bearing on the gameplay, for the record.) Portrait 1N is a Cavalier model. Portrait 1A is a Dragoon model. Portrait 2 is the Sensor model. Portrait 3 is the Phlanx model. And portrait 4 is the Seeker model. If you look closely at their portraits, you can see the abbreviations of their model type on their body somewhere.

And with that, I'll open up character creation for one last time. Same rules as before. Come up with a name (Which has a 9 character limit), and choose which portrait you wish to go with (and if you want to use the Normal or Alternate color palettes), and a small bio detailing their personality or whatever. If you want a full body view of the Yggdroids, click here. I'll choose the character that I like the best. If you came up with a character before, and it was accepted into the LP, you are not allowed to make a submission for this.

The only way to save both Agata and Hypatia is to ignore their events, I guess. :v:

The princess portrait just has pgutrune instead of the portrait proper. Also, the PC-88 link to The King Forgotten by Time goes to The City on the Deep Blue Sea instead.

Also I like how nice the Abyssal King is when he isn't trying to murder the party.

Well, he does have the best interests of humanity in mind.

Because change
Name: Rejectoid (AKA: Reject)
Portrait: 4A

Bio: A...faulty...Yggdroid that was sent to Tidehunt's care so that they would not have to deal with building one of their own. This Yggdroid has a...bad sense of humor as well, constantly spouting out bad jokes and various other non-sequiturs at seemingly random, it was MEANT to be scrapped so that it's parts could be reused and re-purposed for a new Yggdroid, but rampant laziness and inability to care about scrapping it, they instead took the lazy way out, turning it off and leaving it in the corner of some warehouse for the past several years. Letting the Yggdroid collect dust and cobwebs, it's existence was re-found after Tidehunt smashed through their defender without a care in the world, and was reactivated...only to turn on the poor sod that reactivated it and rip their head clean off their shoulders. The synthesized voice calling for the death of it's creators. Instead, they managed to turn it off again (with a few more dead, with obvious blood caked onto the Yggdroid's chasis) and then cart it over to Tidehunt, thinking that they would have better luck dealing with the death machine instead of them (considering they're still scraping their protector off the floor of the labyrinth, that's probably for the better).
