Now that crossovers are happening I am unbelievably disappointed Marvel doesn't have the Hanna-Barbera licenses so I can get a Daredevil/Harvey Birdman teamup.

So apparently Wonder Woman has been removed as an ambassador to the U.N. due to backlash. Pisses me the gently caress off too because I had sent both Linda Carter and Gal Gadot a letter to bring up the important issue of The Ray's gender at the next U.N. meeting.

I'm pretty happy these projects are coming in around the new year. If JLvSS is an unfun slog, at least we'll have the Kamandi Challenge and HB crossovers going on. Now I just wanna hear that Multiversity Too is still happening. edit: Previews of the Constantine and Detective Chimp!! stories in the Holiday Special. http://www.mtv.com/news/2963036/batman-detective-chimp-dc-rebirth-holiday-special/ Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 07:16 on Dec 13, 2016 |

Yeah, with as little as the UN actually accomplishes, it'd hardly make a difference if it was anyone else. If anything someone like Wonder Woman is the best possible candidate because it grabs headlines. It's not like they gave the Extraordinary Accomplishments in Feminism award to Joss Whedon.

There are real world people we can use, but it seems like the UN delegates don't get that fictional characters can be just as inspiring as real people. Like poo poo if it riles you up so much, just have Wonder Woman as a fictional one and then find a real person in addition to that. It's honestly lovely to backtrack after it's already been like a month or two since this passed.

I thought people would stop caring about WW and the UN by now but I guess idiots got to keep on idioting. For all the hubub about WW being a fictional character she has been seen a strong feminist character for decades, is one of the few original female superheros that has lasted so long that she is culturally significant like Batman and Superman and is a pretty inspiring character for children around the world. Who wants that.

Also, I swear, every time I see Gustavo Duarte, I have to look again because I read his name as "Gustave Doré," which would be a Hell of a catch for DC. Also I feel like I should make an Elf with a Gun joke, but one's just not coming to me.

Red Hood was fantastic this week We got direct confirmation N52 RHATO and DCYou's RH/A are still canon and Sionis ditched the idiotic S&M mask to return to the good ol' black skull Aside of that, Hal Jordan is surprisingly good given Venditti's trail record but only the Hal bits. The stuff with the corps is kind of boring.

So I think this is the first issue of WW Year One that I'm actually kind of ambivalent about, but not because of anything bad in the issue, just because...is there really only one more issue of this Year One arc left? That's no time at all to wrap up this Ares plot in any satisfying way, which feels like it's just now starting. Moreover, this really hasn't been "year one" of Diana's origins as much as it is...y'know..."week one." Unless I've gotten a complete wrong impression of the split storylines and the origin stuff set in the past will continue after issue #14? So the next arc of the even-numbered issues is also set in the past? That...does make a lot more sense...but even so, the pacing makes me a bit antsy. I know both of these stories are going to read a lot more smoothly in trade format, but there were still bits and moments in this issue that seemed a bit redundant...like, we didn't need a whole page of Diana's reaction to a soda, especially since we already hammered that it was going to be too sugary for her in the last issue. I'm still fully on board with this book obviously, but some issues are leaving me with a feeling of, like, it's over already? But nothing happened! Which is kind of a good feeling I guess, since I just want the be reading more of the stuff I'm already reading...but yeah, in a general sense, I wish both storylines had a bit more...hmm...frisky pace. Maybe I'm just getting more impatient in my old age.

Bisques Evely's first arc doesn't seem like it'll be set in the past, or the solicit just isn't mentioning it.

The Holiday Special is very good

It was well worth $10. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps got surprisingly emotional there, and Deathstroke made a fight between him and Superman not eyeroll-inducing.

Oh yeah, definitely pick up the Holiday Special if you've been invested at all in the Supersons. It's all a bit silly, but totally worthwhile. New Super-Man has gotten pretty interesting and entertaining with these last couple of issues now that it's really found its voice and story. I think I will be continuing with this book for the time being. Hal Jordan and the GLC was a bit Hal-heavy for my tastes, but I'm looking forward to where things are going here as well. Detective Comics is...fine........I think...but I'll have to wait for the next issue before determining my thoughts on this storyline. I trust Tynion enough to not turn Stephanie into a whiny petulant turncoat but, hey, given how writers have handled her in the past...let's say "trust, but verify" for now.

Roth posted:And under my mask is... ANOTHER MASK!!! Actually that is his actual face. His basic thing is that during his first fight with batman his Ebony mask got burned onto his face. Normally that would cause lots of scaring and make you look a lot less pretty. Roman however never had the mask removed for years. When he finally did have it removed it left his face resembling a black skull.

Supergirl is losing me... the Rebirth "get to the core of the character" formula has worked well for many of DC's characters, but Supergirl angsting over Krypton and her parents during yet another invasion of Earth feels stale. I'll take the TV-imitating Adventures of Supergirl over this, easily. I'm still flabbergasted that Deathstroke and Red Hood are fun reads.
