I'm pretty sure Noctis didn't use to take damage from using royal arms + overwhelm before but now he does. Strange since there hasn't been an update

Strange since there hasn't been an update It's possible you ran into the regen bug before, since it's super easy to trigger without even trying. It pretty much negates any damage from the Bow of the Clever/Overwhelm combo.

The more I think about it, the more I think 15 is up there too despite its flaws. If the Christmas DLC is good, and has more great banter, that might solidify it for me. I love cheesy holiday based content. Especially when it's in fantasy settings where it doesn't make any sense and they have some cheesy not-Christmas holiday in universe. It'd be pretty hard to beat the birthday "mission" in MGSV for me though.

I tried to play 9 three times, and just couldn't do it. I hated the characters so much. Steiner was grating, the princess was bland, and that blue frog thing was terrible. The furthest I made it was to the end of disc 1. I don't think I ever met the bad guy.

9 owns and I have no idea how you could hate all the characters, especially Vivi. I don't think it's "the best game ever" or anything but I still think its up there.

Game beaten. The ending is A+ Honestly as much as story DLC is shunned upon I think I can end up saying it's a great story when the DLC and updates patch up the blind spots of the narrative. But at the end I feel really satisfied with the experience.

So there's a special animation if you summon Gaia against Adamantoise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn1PQ48sPF4 By the way, what accessories do you guys use for your bros? Should I just try to get as much HP as I can + maybe a ribbon? RatHat fucked around with this message at 18:33 on Dec 15, 2016 |

FFIX has my favorite core cast of any FF. Zidane is actually a super fun protag. FFXV is probably my second favorite though, these guys are awesome.

Final Fantasy 9 is for sure my favorite game in the series. Best music, best characters, and best combat/job system that isn't FFT.

The bonus is with load times, you have to wait around 15 seconds before you can enter the first command for any random battle. Pacing is one of the worst things about the game. Story, characters, mechanics, graphics all pretty good.

I have no idea what triggers summons, but I haven't had one in many many many hours of gameplay. Like maybe 20-30 hours of postgame with 0 summons. I often play in the same room as my room mate and he will get 2 in one session while I continue to get 0. The gods have forsaken me

Nina posted:That just reminds me I'm 40 hours in and I've still never gotten any other summons than Ramuh. Other than scripted occurrences they apparently only show up when you're getting your rear end beat so if you're over leveled and not really getting into trouble during fights they basically don't think you need their help. It'd be real cool if you could just summon a random god more or less on demand. I mean not like every 30 seconds but with some kind of cooldown and maybe per-god cooldown too so you get some variety as well as the terrified realization that Ramuh showed up and your enemies absorb/nullify lightning for example.

I'd like it if you could just equip your favourite and have them show up based on the same triggers instead of the mystery parameters on the background picking for you (and picking Ramuh every time)

Can you summon Titan the same way you summon Ramuh and Shiva or is he only scripted? I've never gotten him before.

The gods have forsaken me They each have specific conditions, combined with only appearing in certain areas. Titan: Appears when your party members are dying a lot. Can only be summoned in open air rocky/desert areas, basically the areas around Ravatogh, the Disc, and Hammerhead. Ramuh: Chance goes up as the length of a battle goes on. Can be summoned pretty much anywhere. Leviathan: Can only be summoned when Noctis is in Danger. Can only be summoned near bodies of water. Shiva: Combination of the other summons' requirements. Like Ramuh can be summoned pretty much anywhere. Bahamut: Sadly only in a cutscene. In addition there's a hidden cooldown between summons, so try not to waste them on weak enemies.

I'm getting the distinct impression that Chapter 13 wasn't originally supposed to be this close to the end of the game. I can see the parts of this game that were incredibly ambitious but didnt have the same impact because of the troubled development. Kinda a shame, but there's still a lot to like about this game.
