UHD posted:who was the last good president Horrible human being or lovely president are the norm. Usually both. Did you read the "elections throughout history" thread we had here in CSPAM back in the day? I would highly recommend it! There's like probably 3 or 4 at most a person would think are actually good, and which 3 or 4 probably changes depending on the person. And even the good ones were pretty terrible. no one region/demo should dominate the early map (ie, no washington + montana + oregon + colorado as the second wave of states), and the biggest states should come as late as possible (like texas, cali, ny, and florida). this gives candidates with good ideas but little fundraising the chance to make it out. this should apply to both primaries. get rid of caucuses, allow anyone to switch registration (but not right back) and keep primaries closed. it doesn't have to be perfect, but something close to that i think would achieve what all parties would want. if you play spoiler, you can't pick your own candidate, and primary voting should be done by mail. nobody candidates get a better shake to make their ideas count, no one gets firewalled, and people with crossover appeal to other demos that might win a general election get influence, but the party gets to keep them for a bit and it minimizes spoiler votes.
