Trump being an idiot won't have caused the constitutional crisis/civil war. That will be entirely on the Obama.

Nah.

The important thing isn't that Trump is violating the Constitution or whatever. The important thing is that Barry and the rest of the Dems are holding a match and about to burn the entire loving thing down.

It only becomes a crisis when someone gets a hare up their rear end about prosecuting it.

I don't give much of a gently caress about Trump himself and never have.

My concern is that we have a pretty wide swathe of Americans who feel that their voice has been marginalized and their concerns are unheard by either major party establishment. Trump was an expression of that frustration and anger, and if the *SYSTEM* turns around and invalidates an election after they lose because of a secret memo written by secret people, then things are going to move in a very scary direction very quickly.

It is, but "person with terrible opinions and instincts is president" is a situation that doesn't upend the entire political structure, while "party in power refuses to transfer government after losing an election, while alleging the incoming party is literal traitors based on unseen secret evidence" is a whole other ball of wax entirely.

Which, among other reasons, is why I'm pretty sure this dude is huffing paint and it's not what he's suggesting.

i mean i knew that was the case, i just didn't really understand why and how. the important things in my life are "am i financially secure", "am i in a safe area", "am i discriminated against" and "how lovely is rent" and stuff. i understand that local and state law accounts for a lot, but it's the federal government that determines things like social security, provision of health case, monetary support, etc. like, the big stuff that i have to worry about.

maybe i just have a lack of perspective.

edit: like if i want UBI, socialized healthcare, pensions instead of lovely 401ks, and anti-discrimination policies, that's stuff the feds decide, right?

That depends on how scary you consider a generic Republican president to be, and how much scarier you consider Trump to be than that.

I think he's a lot less scary than a President Cruz or President Kasich or President Jeb!, for starters.
