Oh good, not just me then. I bought Final Fantasy Dimensions for my iPad back around the holidays last year, and I also have Silversword which is basically Bard's Tale: Less rear end in a top hat Modern Interpretation. Neither game hardly requires quick, sharp movements, but I just find playing them with touch controls to be so awkward. Not being able to feel the interface is like trying to button up a cardigan when your arms have gone numb. I'm happy with the tenner that I spent on Run, but I honestly would not want to play a traditional Mario platformer on a touch device. I think that Nintendo knew that, and this is where things ended up. Touch controls really only work with one-handed games (insert masturbation joke here) that don't require complex back-and-forth movement. Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja leap to mind.

As another example, I'm a huge fan of that old twin-stick arcade game Karate Champ. There is a port of it for iOS, and it's very well done, but playing it is intolerable because I can't feel where the virtual sticks are and my fingers will often "slip off" without me knowing it. However, if I play that same game in MAME with a twin analogue pad and it's just as fun now as it was in the 80s.

You can directly craft for the cat then bring two other cats along, and there's a more traditional RPG skill wrangling system for the cats. Creating weapons for your main guy yields bonus parts for cat items in addition.

Cat is very viable and also cute. There are a couple of super broken cat combat builds that you can look up, but a lot of groups will be perfectly happy with a catte player who specializes in support, too.
