There's actually a bunch of leftist Calvinists I talk to on the regular but nothing's solidified into a singular movement yet, and then I went and left the whole thing to join the Catholics.

At least the Calvinists don't have any alt-right infiltration going on. Well except Kinism and FV but they'll both get you banned from Calvinist forums instantly. Catholics, on the other hand, have I told you about deus vult my friend.

Excuse me, but 'anarcho-capitalism' is a linguistic fallacy. You cannot apply the prefix to something that confers illegitimate state authority( in an anarchist analysis anyway) to another entity, no matter if said entity is a market power or a communist party.

If these fucks could actually read and think at the same time, they'd realize anarchism is a doctrine derived from the socialist labour movement of the 1880s and is irrefutably a class struggle ideology. Hell, if taxation is theft, why aren't the slave labour company towns these assholes dream about theft?

If my neighbor takes my money without permission, and then uses it to build something I benefit from, it's still theft. The state and taxation are essentially a social contract, but it's a contract you never chose and that you can't opt out of (to a degree, at least the process of opting out would seriously disrupt your life).

I certainly wouldn't want to live in an ancap society. But if you're a young healthy non-poor man and don't care about other people, it certainly has an appeal.

I don't think most people disagree( or would disagree if they thought good about it) that taxation is essentially an extension of the exploitation of the rich by the poor - but it doesn't mean you can use that knowledge to arrive at the conclusion that hyper-capitalism is somehow a good idea, and have real anarchists take you seriously :colbert:

Abolishment of capitalism, replaced with voluntary and participatory labour economies. If everything is available and you control your place of employment, it's hardly taxation, though I'm sure some would argue the point.

Taxation is good, it finances social security and infrastructure and such. But you could argue that this should not be done by the state but rather by voluntary associations. And then, if you fundamentally disagree with taxation, they're taking your money against your will.

I think the problem here is that it's the state that gives your money any value in the first place, and also that "private property is to be used in a pro-social manner" is literally in our constitution.

I'm really enjoying the Christmas opinion pieces in our newspapers, peace and love for all <3

Well the idea is that the church takes over all functions of the social welfare system, and can be funded entirely through voluntary donation. Who knows what happens to infrastructure development and the military though. The minute you give the church a military force it seems like your voluntary tithes aren't so voluntary anymore because surprise we're back to the whole implicit threats of violence thing. These people consider the premises of the position very well and spend no time contemplating the consequences.

I did, at one point, get a Calvinist ancap to agree that the military should be disbanded. Unfortunately he didn't immediately start speaking in Plain Speech and fly away to the world of Quakerdom.

Yeah a bunch of people from my parish have a tradition of drinking together on Thursday nights at a local restaurant in Lafayette, and every year they get in a singing competition with the Anglicans. This year they had two dozen people from their choir and we had six and only one could sing so it wasn't close but we gave it a shot!

Darn Anglicans ruined Christmas for good Bavarian Catholics as well this year! :argh: (because they found a 4-ton British bomb from the war in the city of Augsburg and tomorrow more than 50,000 people are going to be evacuated instead of celebrating Christmas at home, including the bishop). I wonder how many of the evacuees will dare to make the jump across the Lech river into my fair hometown to attend Mass? :v: In any way I just met some people of my church choir by coincidence who told me that apparently the inhabitants of an evacuated home for the handicapped will spend tomorrow in my parish instead and we're supposed to sing some carols for them. Which is a wonderful idea, but I'm sure a lot of us will first hear of this tomorrow morning. Hopefully they won't have to go to a delicious Christmas roast immediately after Mass, I don't think that the evacuees deserve me singing to them solo :haw:
