Those things are intimately associated, like Rodman and rebounding, or Jordan being an rear end in a top hat. There has to be something here, but I don't know what I could be missing. Maybe PNR was used situationally. Maybe they busted it out for the 4th quarter. Or maybe, because in the 90s like every loving play was an isolation, a couple of pick and rolls stood out even more. I'm going to try to track down some more video.

Most important part of that clip is the very very beginning * where Bob Costas is on national TV talking about Stockton/Malone PnR . I think a very big part of the reason people remember it is because they mentioned it on TV.

*telling someone to listen to an album being like "make sure to check out track one" is a very funny pointless thing to do

The first thing I think of when I hear "Stockton/Malone" is an opposing player getting injured from a flying knee.

Maybe dokmo's colleagues think PnR because no one dared PnR against Stockton/Malone because they knew they'd be getting a knee to the groin.

I watched the first quarter of this game from 1993, and Utah used 5 ball screens, which isn't much by today's standards but at least is approaching a reasonable number. However, Stockton only had two of those, something called Jay Humphries used the other three. And the plays began from a strange horns set with the bigs at the elbows, the screener facing the wrong way, and moving the entire time.

Yea but that second half really saved their point differentials :) ;)

But yea, that team was so much better than them. It still hasn't sunk in that the best regular season team in recent memory added Kevin Durant. All around fucks.

GSW can just fall rear end backwards into KD while the Raptors gotta gut their entire team to be able to marginally improve oh well

When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
Beautiful foxes, Dejan.

Also Dokmo, I feel like a lot of the Jazz P&R was actually early in their time together and became sort of a rarity as the team got more weapons.

pubic works project posted:

Haha yeah I know. I was just looking at his stats for the last game. I think he scored like 4 points.

The Jazz were staying home with him and Russell (and all shooters, really) and basically daring Lou Williams and Julius Randle to beat via one on one basketball, which turned out to be a (barely) successful strategy.

If he's healthy I won't say no since it's an easy upgrade over Thomas Robinson. Still, I've been pleasantly surprised with the amount of effort and energy Robinson plays with.

With the Clippers loss, Rockets are kinda hanging onto that third seed. I had them somewhere in the lower half of playoff teams, it'd be pretty awesome if they manage to get to homecourt.
