for real though i have my ups and downs with music, i'll get super productive for a while and then decide i'm awful and stop for a bit. then i get this almost constipation of the soul or something and just have to sit down and make myself write something

okay i'm half drunk and going to bed now, but here are my doogie howser closing thoughts for the day: what's funny is that i make stuff that i look back at five years later and i think "holy poo poo that's brilliant", and i make stuff that i look back at and i say "oh good god that is loving embarrassing", but at the time that i made them i felt equally optimistic about both. after nearly thirty years of making music, i still have literally zero idea what i myself am going to think is good once i get some distance from it, let alone what anyone else is going to like. i just have to console myself with the fact that i am capable of producing cool stuff occasionally, even if i'm incapable of realizing when i have (and more importantly haven't) done so

I'm right now editing/re-recording something that only made a rough recording of about like.... 7 years ago jesus christ I'm getting re-familiar with all the tools, getting re-used to playing with a metronome, and getting my fingtertip callasus back up. So far, I'm cleaning up the rough edit clips to better fit the loving tempo/bar beats because at somepoints I do some wierd poo poo where I only get like 2.5 beats through the measure before I start the new measure  all my old recordings did that, it makes recording impssoble but fixing it I worry kills the cadence
