Dudley is still going to get wrecked because in shounen whoever shows off their special ability first will lose, but I'm glad he wasn't a pushover.

Assuming this is Dudleys only special. I want more, also this is proper MURICA right here.

gently caress boi got a proper and bad rear end representation, not in small part owed to the artist actually living in America for a while, but lol if you really thought the foreigner was going to win against the tiny Asian in a manga (i love the Reaper's hockey stick of death)

Is anyone else reading Demon's Plan? I've been following mostly out of boredrom, but it's not quite clicking with me yet. As of now it's just generic shonen number eleventy billion, but I'd like to be proven wrong. Seriously though. Main character is Naruto, the rival is Sasuke, and we've just had a chapter of exposition with a newly introduced character going "hey these are the bad guys." Jump did away with Red Sprite for this? (I'm more than a little bit mad.)

the art in demon's plan is really weird. the main character goes back and forth from looking like a giant-headed toddler between pages. the proportions are all screwed up

All jokes aside, I really loved this fight in Kengan and I'm glad Adam got his licks in even if I knew he was gonna lose. He was a very fun character and I'm hopeful we'll see more of him eventually. This comic is usually pretty good to the side characters.

I was rooting for adam but welp. At least grappler boy got his rear end beat hard before bullshiting out his win.

Factions forming is kinda weird (it kinda looks like the Demon's Plan selects for psychos and sociopaths), and the contest itself doesn't make a lot of sense if the demon powers doled out aren't more or less on the same playing field with eachother (I could see some being easier to use right off the bat). Red Sprite had a funner premise but was felled by the mangaka's seeming inability to make a likable MC. Fabricated fucked around with this message at 04:41 on Dec 30, 2016 |

Yeah, Jerry Tyson came back as a commentator and Hassad came back as Bald Fatty's accomplice (?), so there's a good chance that we'll get to see Dudley again.

I was sad that the middle eastern guy jobbed out, since I was looking forward to there being another non-Japanese fighter. Now aren't all the remaining fighters Japanese?

Ah forgot about the Thai guys and muscular guy (I think the latter was only mentioned very briefly). This series needs to have one of the relatively unknown guys end up winning the tournament. Like the sumo guy or something.

Went back to check the chapter where they introduce all the fighters in the tournament and these are the remaining non-Japanese fighters other than Adam Dudley: Mokichi Robinson, the "Mad Preacher" (the one who's overly protective of his little sister Elena Robinson) (possibly half-Japanese given his first name) Julius Reinhold, the "Most Muscular Man in History" (the bald muscly guy) Muteba Gizenga, the "Genocider" (the tattooed black guy who was sexing multiple women at the same time) Gaolang Wongsawat, the "Thai God of War" (the long-haired Muay Thai guy) Yoroizuka Saw Paing, the "Howling Fighting Spirit" (the short-haired Muay Thai guy)

New Promised Neverland is interesting. Especially the existence of human societies that trade with the demons. Sister Krone claims (and the flashback panel implies that she's being honest on this point) that the outsider human she saw was talking with the demon as an equal, which pretty much eliminates the possibility that they've been militarily subjugated by the demons and are handing over kids as tribute. That doesn't necessarily mean the outsider humans are completely OK with the demons eating human children, of course. It's possible that there's a very tense balance of military power between the humans and the demons. The really surprising thing is Isabella being born in 2014. Actually, the claim that she and Krone were "born" in a Grace Field House is suspicious. After all, we're told in the first chapter that children are brought to Third Plantation at the age of one. I'm actually a little surprised that Norman and Emma didn't pick up on that; I guess it just shows that they're not as smart as Ray.

I think it helps that even though it's 'slow' they're still making progress with something every chapter, and now there's a big solid deadline to keep anticipation high.

Law Cheetah posted:sounds like chuuni poo poo I mean they talked about some blood from amazon, is it referring to something in a manga chapter or what? By the way, how good is the Twin Star Exorcists manga? I saw the anime (which apparently has some completely different anime original ending) mentioned elsewhere and just today realized it's something different than Ao no Exorcist. I'm looking for some decent action/super power type shounen manga that I haven't already read (I think I've read most that have come out in recent years and been translated at this point).

I actually just binged through that recently. Yeah, it's p. okay. Decently executed, each chapter has quite some meat to it so the like 36 chapters that are out will actually take some time to read. Keep in mind that the characterization for the protag from the first one or two chapters basically vanishes shortly afterwards, so don't get too attached to "goofy positive dude who's bad at everything". You need to get over the usual anime hurdles like a dude who runs around in underwear trying to marry two 14 year olds to each other, and wildly conflicting scales of power as the series marches on, but if you've been here for more than a decade, It's very much written in the moment, so there's a couple rear end pulls here and there, but the art is nice, the fights can be followed pretty well, it's refreshing to have a protagonist who looks like he could also play a villain, i like some of what they did with the female lead in terms of hardships and moral decisions later on, and then there's also Hatsune Demon: edit: friendly warning, you'll get enormous whiplash from the little gaiden chapters, because they almost always follow right after some dramatic cliffhanger chapter edit2: the major villain loving sucks, though HenryEx fucked around with this message at 00:53 on Jan 5, 2017 |
