pelosi should never run for anything beyond what she has now but she is the best when it comes to her job, with a track record of protecting things that matter
schumer is an unproven little poo poo who is an awful replacement for the One and Only Harry Reid god bless his name but he still has time to show that he can do stuff and he's already seen the direction the wind is blowing

That's as may be but it's undeniable that under her leadership we have lost more and more seats in the House and she continues to believe there is no issue with the fundamentals of the Democratic party.

Furthermore, Bernie would have won.

in a way i'm grateful for it though, might've otherwise spent years more believing the us had a functioning government or that establishment dems could ever be trusted

it also taught a lot of people that just because someone seems progressive on the campaign trail doesn't mean they won't take a flying leap toward the center as soon as they're elected

Obama campaigned as someone outside the establishment, and then as soon as he was elected, he dumped all his grassroots campaign staff and replaced them with experienced Third Wayers and diehard Clintonites, subverted his own anti-lobbyist rules by issuing a bunch of waivers, and put Max loving Baucus in charge of healthcare reform

one of the biggest mistakes Dems made is defending every aspect of ACA to the death. they could have pushed for "okay, there are some problems but obstructionist Republicans won't let us fix them", but instead they insisted that it was absolutely perfect in every way

i would argue that with her organization of the defeat of GWB's privatization of social security (when the republicans had both houses of congress and the presidency even!), getting the democratic party to go from 2004 kerry style, "we'll do iraq better" to "gently caress this stupid war" and the gains in the 2006 and 2008 elections her leadership and fundamentals were good, in so much as they can be for a centre-left party. it's only when obama became the leader of the party and pelosi was forced to defer to him that thing went off the rails. as i recall pelosi and reid were constantly telling obama during his various attempts at a "grand bargain" to gently caress off with this stupid poo poo.

furthermore bernie would have won

Problem there is it doesn't matter how you finish the sentence if it opens with "okay, there are some problems," which then gets blasted across the news as "DEMOCRATS ADMIT SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH OWN SIGNATURE LEGISLATION," and that's if they go easy.

"Goblin" is the codename of a project which a company I used to work at wasted a shitload of money on before canceling it because it was going nowhere. Then they laid a bunch of people off. None of those people were the idiot executives who wasted all the money in the first place.

So yeah goblins can and do take people's jobs, I've seen it happen :colbert:
