Not to mention oh, everything else comic book related he's done. (Except 300. That was already that condition before he got to it)

It's not that kind of test.
After consistently enjoying Jonathan Hickman's work with Image and other indies for several years, I finally decided to read some of his Marvel stuff. It's mostly been serious business so far, but this sequence from FF 17 (in which Johnny Storm is rooming with Peter Parker) cracked me up.

That Peter face is something else.

Dragotta's art is so so good in this issue, everything has a Silver Age feel. Also Peter should have done Captain Kirk proud by continuing to hook up with the blue skinned woman. The issue afterwards that has him with the FF in costume is awesome too.

Hickman is also the writer who had Johnny Storm bring democracy to the insectoid masses, which they then used to vote for Annihilus.

What the heck happened to Ikon? Also that tryhard Wraith guy while I'm at it. It feels like that era of Marvel had a lot of interesting characters introduced in Cosmic Marvel that just showed up and then just sorta... stopped appearing.

When you're lost out there and you're all alone, a light is waiting to carry you home
No one cared about Wraith, so he's in character limbo.

Ikon probably wasn't used again after D&A left because Marvel seems leery of using ROM-related stuff, even if it's technically theirs.

I believe in a universe that doesn't care, and people that do.

Annihilators kinda crapped out and the Abnett-Lanning cosmic stuff kinda floated around for a bit afterwards, before Hickman showed up and took over with his own take on cosmic stuff. In the meantime the guardians movie came out and essentially led to Bendis completely ruining Starlord as a character, and now the space stuff is kind of a mess no one cares about again, just like before Annihilation.

Thank you! Some quick googling later, apparently they set it up to look like she did, then her and some other Space Knights showed up in Avengers #21 and did their thing. So Hickman blew up Galador, but NOT all of the Space Knights! Even though then apparently they made the symbiotes Space Knights later. Hmm.

Anyway, here's some relevant content.

Between that, his reaction to the fact that literally everyone is in some Avenger team nowadays when his biggest team was just the New Warriors (I'm guessing the writers aren't counting a single mission as Secret Avengers membership), and Rich trying to be the cool father/brother figure to Sam in space, this whole book was wonderful.
