My favorite is when they quote MLK taping about one day race not needing to matter. And that's why they don't see race. A guy I know kept using that and he knows gently caress all about anything. Like he didn't know what the 1964 Civil Rights Act did and I've tried to claim that Slaves didn't have their identities stripped from them. (He of course has a Chinese girlfriend, because these types always loving do) He got really loving mad at me for suggesting he learn more about the subject before commenting on poo poo and this had now ruined the friendship I had with his girlfriend (who was my friend and the only reason I know the scumbag)

That or conservatives are pulling the spectrum super far to the other side since they consider racism against white people to be a much bigger issue.

Tried to explain the whole "the word has a bad history," the "African Americans in the 80s (?) made the argument the word was a bad one and using it implies your complicit in their mistreatment", and many other points and got sent back "the only reason no one says it is because they are afraid of getting stabbed." Add all that on top of me eventually just going "man, isn't it fun to be the only non-white person in this discussion and everyone telling me I'm wrong and the actually racist one." "Oh, you're not white. I guess I didn't notice because I don't just see race." At that point, just loving left. I've never understood how people just don't understand context. At the most basic level, I understand that as a man that if I walk up to a woman and say "Hey, what's up oval office?" or "How ya doing bitch?" then that is inappropriate and disrespectful. But if a woman does the same thing to her girlfriends, it's completely fine and playful. Every cultural group has words like that! But for some reason it's offensive to some whites if they can't walk up to a black person and use disrespectful language? Drives me crazy.

A lot of people are spiteful assholes because their life didn't turn out how they wanted. Instead of self-reflection and improvement, they focus on being jerks to everyone. As acknowledging this behavior means admitting you hate yourself and are, therefore, worse off than the people you terrorize, they come up with rationalizations to deflect their bad behavior on others or make themselves out to be innocent, even saints or heroes.

I wonder how conservatives would respond to "Christianity is so successful because they were willing to alter their iconography and message to the cultural group they were recruiting. One weakness of American Christianity is its refusal to adopt this method and is a contributing factor to high rates of atheism among America's youth."
