DelphiAegis posted:So THATS where you get the magitek suit. I got one of those, but had no idea where from. I don't remember that guy being very much trouble though. Are you just doing that setup for the big numbers? He's not exactly trouble, in the sense that nothing in this game is really much trouble besides the no items dungeon, but he has extreme damage resistance on most of his targetable areas except the cockpit portion and the rocket launcher and arm disc thing when they're in active use. Most people farm this thing for the 5% drop of the V2 suit quickly by dropping the difficulty to easy, dying for the Carbuncle Ruby Light buff, then going to town on it. I didn't want to do that, though, so this is my answer.

I'm debating whether or not to do Steyliff or Costlemark Menace dungeons at all. Is the only use for the Hunters Medal to make a huge batch of limit break spells? I don't really have anything left to kill... I did finish pitioss at least. I didn't hate Chapter 13 but do wish it was easier to kill the enemies. The ring needs a basic attack just to keep it interesting. At least I figured out that a well timed dodge uses almost no MP, while holding it drains very fast, so mashing square was overall much faster. Edit: vv thanks. stuff like the chakrams draining your HP is stupid, should just be tied to MP instead. MP management is way too trivial as-is anyway.

I really like the battle system in this game but I haven't even used wait mode once and I'm in chapter 3. Should I be using it more? What's the advantage?

When you stand still time stops and you can target and scan enemies. It's not that big a difference, especially since Ignis has abilities that automatically target weaknesses and there are only three elements anyway.

You can spend AP to get bonuses for Wait Mode stuff like faster scanning and do bonus damage when you scan an enemy's weakness and exploit it. It's actually not too bad and helps when you're trying to target specific body parts or get a feel for the battlefield in general. Once I got used to it, it's really pretty useful especially since Ignis's Analyze doesn't always trigger when you want it. You can for sure ignore it but I really like it.

I've been watching a video of scenes that were shown in trailers but deleted and I wonder if some of them could be put back. I can deal with most of the game's problems but it sorely needed more scenes with Regis and Luna. Heck, they could've just put in the first minutes of Kingsglaive and it would have covered several missing parts, and given Ravus' actions more context, to boot. The video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkVYVpxNarU&t=197s The intro to Kingsglaive (first 3.5 minutes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UblcNFVVHT8.

The first time I ever used that shop from the bar side, the game glitched out and I couldn't interact with anything until the menu popped up. I tried it again a second time and then it happened again, but I also noticed that when I went to leave, the gondoleer wasn't in place by the bar. On the third attempt, I slowly watched the gondoleer guide his boat around the bar, and when he got to the shop the menu popped up, and then he circled back around when the menu closed to the bar dock. It was glitch and beautiful.

Fishing is the most fun way I've found. Pick a spot with a bunch of weak fish (the pools on the southeast of duscae work pretty well) and just fish it dry (if you can, they usually resplendent with daylight changes before I can clear them), then if you leave the hole and come back it will have respawned. It probably isn't quite as fast as spamming an aoe warp strike on mobs of lvl 2 dogs but it's a nice change. Getting all the skills unlocked that give you AP for things you'd be doing anyways helps a lot as does wearing the accessories for getting bonus AP for A+ ratings in battles. I just play normally for half an hour and I can get easily over a hundred without forcing it. By far the fastest way is to just go somewhere that spawns low level dogs and just warp strike with a greatsword or some other thing that does an aoe warp strike, blow the monster whistle the second you see the battle complete screen, rinse and repeat. If you're efficient at it you can get over 1000 ap per hour.

Also, if you're still early in the game there is 0 reason not to equip the extra AP time and offense items. They give 1 for one A+ and 3 for two A+ and given that you'll easily get into lots of battles its a free extra drip of AP. Of course, you should also be obsessively warp striking literally every foe you can. I still don't get why quests don't give like, 5 AP per completed quest.

Equip the Shield of the Just, go to the northermost valley in the Three Valleys region, find the dogs clustered near the treasure procurement spot, and start cracking out Warp Strikes. The shield has an AOE effect on Warp attacks so you'll blow them away, then blow the whistle to instantly summon another mob for another Warp Strike. There's Youtube videos to this effect. It's still horribly tedious.
