The Phantom Tollbooth. Chuck Jones' film is just a mess and a poor adaptation of the book. I'm thinking of an old school roadshow film with a cast full of great character actors, sparse use of CGI (use stop-motion when possible), and shooting at actual locations.

Phantom Tollbooth seems like a great excuse for a fantasia of physical effects.

I briefly considered making a Scorpio Rising-like documentary in college about furries before better judgement took hold.

Basically use all old school techniques like miniatures, puppets, forced perspective, and wires.

Also, shoot in Super Panavision and IMAX instead of 3-D and high frame rate.

I Bury The Living because it's a great concept and for the most part a very good film but the ending sucks.

Solving all of life's problems through enhanced casting of Occam's Razor. Reward yourself with an imaginary chalice.

Hmm.

I dunno, I can't pick any off the top of my head, but maybe I'd take one of those 10 million dollar found footage films from 2006-2015 that are just totally forgettable and pick them apart for something more interesting. Maybe like pick Devil's Due and remove all of the racist aspects and the blatant cult involvement or Project Almanac and turn that into something more cohesive.

Alternately a redo of Cabin in the Woods into a movie that either focuses exclusively on the folks in the conspiracy or removes the whole "elder gods" thing and the fact that they're making them conform to certain roles. Or both. I think that's a movie that could do with some meddling.

I got two. They Live, but set in Fox News starring Adam Scott. The glasses and the Aliens would pretty much be the only thing from the original.

And Without Warning. Same Alien, different movie. Scarier, less slashers, more like Green Room with an Alien. Not sure about those little starfish things, though.

Batman Forever, because that movie could be so much better and gayer, and it's already decent and decently gay.

I'm gonna reach for the sun here and remake Metropolis, with the full force of modern SFX to portray the city, reintroduce the lost scenes, and maybe tighten up the script so that the delivery of the moral isn't quite so twee.

The movie would be improved just by removing the "modern" sequences. They literally serve no purpose other than to give Johnny Depp more screen time.
