Byzantium the leaguequote:In a truly MLS-level trade, the New York Red Bulls have actually done something this offseason, they just never announced it. This gets all sorts of complicated, so let us start from the beginning.

Also glad to see those homegrown signings, at worst they'll be cheaper than Le Toux and St. Ledger. Ford could actually be pretty good though, and we definitely need more CB depth along with someone to challenge Watts.

The first 5-10 picks or so in the "Superdraft" (mostly college players) end up at least useful at this level fairly often, but that 3rd round pick in question will be a complete longshot. Though I think Borchers for one was 3rd or 4th round.

There's rumors of another Ghanaian MF named Bismarck Adjei-Boateng, currently of the Manchester City system and on loan with Stromsgodset of Norway. This deal appears to be further off. link I like the homegrown signings. Depth at CB and push Watts, and someone cheaper at least than LeToux? Sold.

Gigi Galli posted:When is the last time something interesting or worthwhile happened in a non-expansion draft? Are these picks even worth anything? The picks sort of work, just its kinda a crapshoot on who becomes good and who plays a few matches as a sub before disappearing into minor league soccer. Sometimes a lower level pick turns into a good player in the league, the most prominent example I can think is Wondolowski for as "lol" as he is for the National Team, he went from random lovely journeyman drafted like in the 4th round to great (for MLS) goal scorer in his later 20's. Looking at what the Sounders did with our last few draft first round picks this was the most lol trade. We traded a pick for Stefan Frei and started this hilarious trade chain that also brought Pareja to Dallas. In the end the guy Columbus drafted ended up playing in the USL. One thing that is hilarious is looking back at the draft from a couple years ago to see what happened https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_MLS_SuperDraft#cite_note-13 Jack2142 fucked around with this message at 03:14 on Jan 9, 2017 |

You can look through these names and tell me if a 3rd round + draft pick is worth anything https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_MLS_SuperDraft#Round_3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_MLS_SuperDraft#Round_3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_MLS_SuperDraft#Round_3

I think the SuperDraft will stay as it is as long as the NASL and the USL are still fighting each other. Until there is stability below MLS, there will be the need to draft college players.

John Spencer out as Rapids "assistant coach in charge of attack", Conor Casey in. link Rumor has it he's going to SJ to work with/for Dom Kinnear. link Good luck to Spenny but geez...that was dismal this year on the attack for the Rapids. Hopefully Casey has the personality to coach and can do better. Padraig Smith has also essentially taken over as Rapids TD. No real surprises there. He usually played like 10 minutes in each of those 70, still bad but he has been unlucky getting starts at the club level. He's at 1 in 4 with the national team and is very hardworking. He scored in Brazil so that's probably why I rate him more than I should.
