How are Arctic Scavengers and/or Core Worlds? My only experience with deck builders is Valley of the Kings, which I love, but I'm not sure is comparable to others. Both of those caught my eye, but seem to have a mix of people who love them and people they fall flat with.

E: I usually play two player, but am up for things that work with small (3-5) groups as well.

To present a slightly opposing viewpoint: I think Arctic Scavengers is pretty solid. Not quite good enough to enter my collection (because I don't need any pure deckbuilder beyond Dominion), but I've played it a few times and I liked it. Doesn't allow for crazy engines (for some that's a pro for some it's a con), and has high interaction for a deckbuilder. I say it's worth giving it a shot if you have the chance.

If you like Dominion you should own Valley of the Kings. Great small box games that offer enough change while still being a really good deckbuilder.

I've played about a dozen Puzzle Strike games, both digital and physical, and I just cannot get into the game. There's something about it that I really just don't like. I think it might be the asymmetrical characters.

The best and most advanced Dominion-Like is clearly Tanto Curio: Oktoberfest. The beer collecting adds a unique dimension, not captured by any of the other deck builders. Its stand alone of course, but it can be combined with other Tanto Curio sets that add other unique mechanics!

Both the HQ and Recon expansions have cards that help mitigate medicine shortages. There's a big box option that has both expansions included in it.

Rutibex clearly too busy fapping to anime maids to even spell the name of the game right despite it being right there on the box art (though tbh probably not looking at that part of the box).

So after playing my free(ish) copy of Disc Duelers with my wife, we're now in the market for more dexterity games. That's one section missing from the OP; are there any good goon-sensus recommendations in that genre?

If you've played enough MtG you don't even notice sleeving as a separate activity. It's just something that you do without thinking about it.

Seems to be warm reviews for Steam: Rails to Riches on Android. Think I'll bite.

Re: Arctic Scavengers, it is one of two games in my collection that I will end up selling. It's not a bad game by any means, but I bought it 2-3 years ago, and my 5 or so attempts to play it with people end with a 'not 'bad' reaction to the first game and then no desire to play again. This is with base set. Maybe with more stuff it becomes a bit more engaging, but it seems it's too much work considering there are lots of games out there that are instantly likeable.

Hard on for love
Got my first playthrough of The Great Zimbabwe in last night. I played it two-player and despite being confused by the rule-book here and there we watched Rahdo's staccato extended play and got the gist.

First off, it played way faster than I thought it would. We finished our game in half an hour, and that's with some significant humming and hawwing over bids and which gods/specialists to go for. My girlfriend took the one that gives you two extra cattle every round and I held off and grabbed the -2 VR god in hopes of warping to a low-VR win. We both made mistakes and would do things differently (I waited too long on specialists and gods, she had way too many cattle and didn't use them efficiently, she also built a diamond mine that only helped me win) but I snuck in to a victory that I wasn't ashamed of, and I think she would have won if she had had one more turn. Overall, I had a very positive impression of the game and want to play a few times again, especially with higher player count. I would say that I didn't walk away from it with as wild-eyed an expression on my face like I did after my first play of FCM but it was still really good with a lot of depth and choices and I think the simplicity of the actions and gameplay would make it hit the table more often than other games like it. And we both had a lot of fun playing it too!

Also, I need to sleeve my VotK sets. Do my penny sleeves from MtG fit them nicely?

Yeah, sleeving/desleeving is a sort of mindless activity in MTG. You have to do it every single draft to your new deck. I really cringe when I see people playing EDH decks without sleeves. "What are you doing?" "I don't have money for sleeves." "Well you had money for 100 rares and mythics, why not $4 for 100 lovely ultrapros?"

Disrecommend on 2player Orleans. The game is great with 3 or 4 players, but the game is very bad at keeping options tight and limited in a 2 player game.
