I hope Rick Perry never finds out that the DoE builds huge, expensive supercomputers because I bet he'd want to cut that funding if he did. I'm feeling confident he'll just go "ugh, boring" when that part is brought up though and subsequently forget all about it. My dream would be some DoE guy pointing out that CHYNA is kicking our rear end in HPC to Trump and him subsequently funding a giant golden Trumputer.

I should add in that the GOP response was "gently caress yeah, the queers and dirty druggies are dying!" The Dem response was "Oh geez, more funding to fight this mysterious disease that's killing hundreds of thousands in an incredibly gruesome and horrific manner? We can't afford that, the deficit!" I would probably hold Ed Koch and Mario Cuomo most personally responsible, NY and CA were the epicenter of AIDS and only the city of SF had anything approaching a reasonable response.
