That's not a bad thing at all, it's why it exists.

In previous decades, police frequently responded to domestic violence calls by telling the abuser to cool off, then leaving. In the 1970s and 1980s, feminist activists filed lawsuits against police departments for their lack of response. In New York, Oakland, and Connecticut, lawsuits resulted in substantial changes to how the police handled domestic violence calls, including reducing their ability to not arrest. I hope the Switch is bad. I hope it sinks Nintendo. Nintendo is a terrible company that deserves to fail for its constant fuckups, hubris, and stupidity. I know that describes every big games industry company but it's surely got to be their turn to reap the IP firesale by now.

hiddenmovement posted:I would have saved my rage for a company that is actually destructive and awful but to each their own I'd save mine for something lazier. Sure Nintendo's game development can seem pretty boringly reiterative at times ('yay, a new Mario!' 'yay, a new Zelda!'), and for the most part new consoles are more tedious than exciting, but Nintendo making hardware is weird and interesting. In the hands of any other company the DS would've just been 'a Game Boy capable of playing N64-level games', and the Wii and Wii U would have been as indistinguishable from their competition as Microsoft and Sony already are. I say save your anti-Nintendo rage for after the Switch has been out for a while and we're back to playing the same three franchises while wishing they'd release another installment of a different same three franchises.

As much as Nintendo frustrate me with their insane decisions, they frequently have the nuggets of genius that make me instabuy their consoles. The WiiU being able to play games on the tablet whilst iajwife watches inane television was a killer app. The 3d on my 3ds made me pour dozens of hours into yet another (excellent) mario game. The idea of being able to play console quality games wherever I am, with the ease of transferring from lounge room to on the go, is incredible and yet again makes this an automatic purchase.

Real talk the only thing I hope for the Switch is that it either has a worthless exclusive library or a great exclusive library. I don't need another PS4 situation where it's either adding over a hundred dollars to every game I'd buy it for or making it so I don't play them.

His plan in life is to leave home at 30, having become a history professor with a big red beard and a doctorate on 20th century militarisation. An income seems as distant as the sign itself. ‘Well dad, I don’t see any signs out there saying Australian Prime Minister’, he replied, without mercy, ‘You lost your election to an old bald midget – so get wrecked.’
