Am I reading that right in that a MSG stole $500 and now has to repay $122k and get busted down to SPC?

Charge is stole "over" $500 and has to repay the $122K he wrongly took over the years. I've seen more minor cases where they can't really prove someone falsified documents or intentionally lied just be handled through DFAS. Like an officer who collected language proficiency benefits CONUS for a few years, despite there being no authorized language proficiency bonus for his slated position. He was convincing in his ignorance to his superiors, who basically said he was a big idiot and he got no-pay-due for a little while. mlmp08 fucked around with this message at 16:20 on Jan 13, 2017 |

From lower enlisted/company level NCO at Camp Casey perspective: nobody gives a gently caress about anything because they just want to do their year and get back to a real duty station. I have no idea why command is so harsh about everything, but it could be the ridiculous amount of stupid poo poo that dumbass privates do on a regular basis.

2ID in particular has a fine tradition of abusing soldiers, with full support up the chain. It was so bad that when I broke my arm towards the end of my tour, I went to yongsan to get it casted. The bone doctor there, a full bird, gave me his cell phone number after hearing that I was going back to Casey. In case anyone tried to make me do something that would gently caress with my arm. I thought that was a little unnecessary seeing as how I had less than 2 months left. Lo and behold the battalion commander wanted me for what was my 4th tank gunnery for the year and his response was "I don't give a gently caress, strap his hands to the controls if you have to". So I gave that number a call and apparently when some one wearing stars calls you up and abuses you, you do what you are loving told. No gunnery for me. He was a spiteful prick so I got denied a PCS award, but I never did care about the 27 pieces of flair so that was fine by me. Then someone on the forums here - I forgot who it was and I accidentally deleted his messages - told me that the battalion commander got his fat rear end kicked the gently caress out after he got his full bird having falsified a PT test and height and weight. Of all the things to jam him up for it was a bogus tape test, but whatever, I'll take it. Anyway, everyone has a got a Korea story of higher ups giving major rear end fuckings all the way down the line for no other reason than malice.

psydude posted:Why is Korea suck so much compared to other OCONUS duty stations? There's just enough real-world stuff actually happening at all times to keep people on edge and get that certain spice of deployment-suck in the air everywhere, but then it's Korea and the upper ranks make every possible lovely thing you can think about coming from peacetime Army/TRADOC bullshit a daily reality. So you'll go from spending three weeks out at a detachment or running an actual real-world mission or pulling a 24 hour rotation out on guard duty and then go straight into a dark room for SHARP/EO briefing powerpoint for four hours because the report goes up to higher tonight and we can't have these excel boxes different colors. If you fall asleep it's your individual failure as a soldier that caused all these problems so here's an Art 15 now get ready for tomorrow's mission/guard duty/mini-deployment.

I'm sure that courtesy patrol was stoked to find they had a light colonel on their hands. What a dumbass.

That E-8 more than likely had redirected someone else's BAH to himself over a period of months, hence the six-figure repayment. That O-5 was doing way, way more than violating curfew. Whatever actually gets written down for an officer punishment is always just the tip of the iceberg. The other 90% gets kept submerged.

Is there any global hostility situation where any of you would willingly go back in? I feel like if something truly heinous and totally clear-cut happened I might, but it's equally hard for me to imagine that kind of Nazis-have-taken-France situation happening again.

I don't really have a choice with as much stuff as they got hosed up on me. My exit physical was basically, "Yeah if you weren't getting out we'd probably have to start medboarding cause another deployment isn't gonna happen". Civvie contractor though, I could see that with enough fat stacks attached to it.

Mech pilot in your contract? Sorry fucko, needs of the army in full effect, enjoy your new infantry contract, and because we're pulling you out of the middle of your mech training you're not getting your bonus. And just a heads up you can't wash out of infantry school because we're just gonna strap you to the outside of mech because armor is expensive. No, you're not gonna get any actual armor as you're basically worthless for bring dumb enough to sign up AGAIN! Ha! Hooah army strong scrub that toilet bitch
