If the Republicans could get rid of Trump without drowning in a flood of rascal scooters and MAGA hats, they absolutely would. Exposing Trump's scandals to sunlight might do that, but there's no guarantee on what damage Trump will do on his way out. The Democrats are going to politically grandstand because that's all they have left at this point given how utterly hosed their party is. It all comes down to the Republicans in Congress and whether they see Trump as a liability or an asset. They have the potential to enact a pretty much permanent majority in the US if they try hard enough, but Trump as the figurehead might be too unstable for their comfort level as he gleefully starts trade disputes and international incidents with 3 AM tweets. Pence would be infinitely superior to the Republican establishment because he won't do half the stupid poo poo Trump will, but Pence is only a step or two above Ted Cruz in terms of charisma, so he wouldn't be able to sell bullshit to the US like Trump can.
