I've been playing Yakuza 0 for a little over a week now and I will just say that I have played all the Western Yakuza games and this is definitely the most fun entry yet. As Sanders said earlier, the story is so-so (but still has the usual badass cinematics) but it's the most enjoyable to play. I thought I'd tire of fighting punks in the streets after so many games but all the little refinements and extras add a lot this time around. It's got almost a bulletstorm sorta feel to it and helps spice up the stream of encounters (which also seem a little more toned down than the older entries) I'm sure everyone who is a fan of the series is getting it already, but if you are on the fence you should go for it, it's good poo poo.

I've been dipping into my backlog before the next rush of PS4 games starts in a couple weeks. I've been really enjoying Killing Floor 2. Couple of questions though for anyone here who's played/playing it: Is the community for it dead? I can get into full games sometimes but it seems uncommon to have a full 6 for PvE or a full 12 for PvP Is the PvP unbalanced? It seems like every time I'm on the Survivors side in PvE, we get dumpstered in the Boss round regardless of how many players are on the Zed side. Trophy stats look like it may be but maybe the groups I've played with are just garbage at it.

The next week, CEX were FULL of suspiciously new looking copies and had changed their trade in price to €24

Quantum of Phallus posted:Holy gently caress Yakuza 0 is out in less than 2 weeks 😳😳😳😳 no EU preorder but that's a day 1 purchase. It is a very fun game, so many sidestories and poo poo to do, even the 100% stuff is much better done (you earn Completion Points by accomplishing goals that would've normally got you nothing before, which you can spend to improve tertiary abilities like dashing speed or income). Bouncing between Goro and Kiryu is alright, though frankly I prefer having a single protagonist, and there's a phone club where Kiryu can go to get his dick wet. Then he can drive little pocket racers. Oh and like 90% of the substories end with some sappy music and Kiryu + his rescuee reminiscing about bonding over brotherhood or family or some other 'very special episode' nonsense which is great.

Nintendos free retro game for a month deal is the saddest thing I have read all day. Also the idea of N charging for multiplayer is just loving I wanted to be excited for the Switch but it looks like it wont be worth buying for 5 year like every other Nintendo system.

Quantum of Phallus posted:Is it as funny as 5? Cos that's probably the funniest game I've ever played. Funny? Hmm, tough to say. I will say that there is a substory where you're trying to buy a porn magazine for child from a vending machine in a 'scary' alleyway, but have to play solid snake around gossipy women and your coworker who happen to be milling around. Then you tell the child to not hide it under the bed because...dramatic pause..."It's not as good of a hiding spot as you think." Also the kid doesn't know it's porn, he just wants it because the vending machine looks nice and it's in a bag, which means it must be special!

Switch looks cool, already preordered mine. It's smart that Nintendo's conceding the touchscreen and console itself to the tablet design that they can't really beat and making a strategic retreat into the controllers. And those controllers do look really well designed. Full disclosure on all Nintendo opinions: I own a DSi

As a system I like it, but that launch sounds beyond barren. The only thing I'm interested in is Zelda which is getting a Wii U release. All of the controllers and extra stuff is super over priced...I'm feeling a lot less excited about it than I was a weeks ago.

the pro controller is about the price of a ps4/xbox controller and the switch itself comes with everything else you need (the pad, the dock, the 2 baby controllers) idk, the price seems fine to me for a midway between a handheld and a home console. if you're coming at it from the angle of a pure home console, maybe it's not worth it. but for me the switch is an upgrade to my 3ds/vita that can also work as a vita tv. the launch lineup sans zelda seems pretty dire tho for sure, unless they've announced more since last night's stream. I'd hope it would at least have a selection of current gen ports available at launch. if not then I don't see a reason to adopt early unless you're way into zelda, but I definitely am gonna buy one and it'll probably be this year
