Oh god what have I done Sonor Player Select. For such a small kit - 20/12/14/14, and so cheap - roughly $550 for the shell pack and the included tom/ride bracket, it sounds like a boss. The rack tom is a little boinky but the floor tom woofs like a champ and the bass drum is loud as hell. The only thing I don't love about it is that the bass drum tensioner claws look kinda cheap but who cares? I'm ditching the stock snare and playing my (also gold sparkle) vintage Milestone snare, which is going to crank it up real nice in terms of sound, as will replacing the heads with better ones (Remo.) (Also going to get mesh batter heads and L80 cymbals so it can be played at apartment volume) strangemusic has a new favorite as of 17:27 on Jan 13, 2017 |

Decided to upgrade my multi meter to a genuine Fluke 87: Almost got the chinese Fluke 17, but found a decent deal for the real thing on fleabay instead. Had a close call recently where I nearly found out the hard way that my 20$ innova meter ain't fused. Let's just say those probe wires can get really hot, really quick. Great lesson to always double check where the selector is pointing so you don't accidentally try to measure amps instead of volts

It's meant to throw lures from 1/8oz to like 1/2oz. I'm gonna use it for white perch, pickerel, and schoolie stripers and blues.

An Ultrasonic cleaner: Mostly for pen and ink related gear, but I threw in my glasses and was astounded at how much detritus fell out. I suspect it'll come in handy when I do my deep cleans of my coffee gear too.

Just got a Google Home and a bunch of Hue lights (not the coloured ones for pot heads) and can't stop being amazed at how "hey boo boo, I'm home" now turns on my lights. Like this but in a much less nerdy voice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ipHS9sQLzI edit: can also change the temperature and turn on/off my tv/ps4 etc by voice too. I'm in the loving future, man. edit 2: and yes, I have tried "tea, earl grey, hot" and it did have a perfect answer. UnfortunateSexFart has a new favorite as of 08:51 on Jan 18, 2017 |

HERAK posted:How does it work for other things? Such as rubber earbud tips? I've always wondered if it would be any good for anything small and fabric? I've seen modernist chefs use it for french fries. Not cook them, but to rough them up prior to frying so they have more surface area to crisp up. So you could do that if you're really serious about french fries. Fake edit: Here ya go (Hot potato actions starts about 3:30) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_tgxzXmpKQ&t=171s

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner to try to use to clean spent brass before reloading, and it did a terrible job. That could have just been the model though. I ended up just going with a traditional vibratory tumbler and walnut media. It makes the brass super shiny
