you could work for an employee owned company instead of just being a member of a union. you won't have to pay union dues. you can cash out by selling your share to other employees and quitting.

i work for a state college / hospital that's currently outsourcing a huge chunk of IT (and getting wrecked by the press by it, deservedly.) The university professional and technical workers union is in a really good spot to swoop us all up they'll outsource the rest of us if it happens but i'd still vote for it just to put the screws to them Endless Mike posted:he's government, tho, so there's a 50/50 chance that his pension will be good for life or will be gone on friday
