I didn't think they said how he was going to show up in the film at all, so I didn't know if he was going to be a human or a voiceover'ed CGI character.

Gunn has definitely said in the past that they gave him a human form.

I mean, if you have the choice to have a little bit of Kurt Russell in your film or a lot, you're going to go with a lot. Ego-as-planet will be limited and I don't know if they'll even give him a face in planet form. Maybe only Mount Rushmore style.

Does this make Starlord a dwarf planet?

Pierce Brosnan was hanging out with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman so people a speculating he may be up for Cable. Honestly I don't hate the idea, I like it better than the Liam Nelson rumour.

Cable should be played by Sean Bean but I would withhold judgement on Brosnan. He'd be a fascinating casting.

They've been secretly following Mel Gibson around for months now. They're going to super-impose him into shots and CG a costume onto him. It'll be weird seeing Cable complaining about Jews all the time, but it's really the only logical way they could go.

He's fully in the bubble of nerd casting that wants to get Nathan Fillion cast in everything like he's anything but a c-list TV actor.

Wasn't it Lang himself who started the campaign? Thought those social media posts of his predated the fan hubbub.

I imagine everyone knows Lang from Avatar? I still haven't seen it -- yeah, I'm that guy. But funny enough, I just saw him in two movies in the last week: The Men Who Stare at Goats, which I had never seen before, and Tombstone, an all-time favorite, but I had no idea who he was back when I saw it a bunch of times in high school and college. It's weird thinking of cowardly Ike Clanton, with his lovely prospector beard, playing Cable, but that's how I know him best.

I absolutely hated the latter Brosnan Bond movies (Die Another Day is easily the worst Bond movie of all and maybe is a top 10 worst movie of all time for me) but I really really like the idea of casting him as something so different from his usual.

Yeah, Brosnan's later Bond films suffered from the shittiest of scripts but that wasn't his fault.

Brosnan was an amazing Bond who was in one fantastic Bond movie, two mediocre Bond movies, and one awful Bond movie.

Brosnan ruled. Could do the dry humour, the more overt jokes, the clenched-jaw seriousness, bad-rear end intimidation, cold-blooded killer, ladies man charm, etc. It's hard not to prefer Connery overall but Brosnan was the complete package. The movies wasted his potential.

Yeah I still say Brosnan was the best overall as far as mixing together the various Bonds. Although he has more Connery and Dalton in his version than Moore. Would have been interesting if License to Kill was his first Bond movie and not Goldeneye. I believe he was the original choice before he decided to go do Remington Steele.

FlamingLiberal posted:Would have been interesting if License to Kill was his first Bond movie and not Goldeneye. I believe he was the original choice before he decided to go do Remington Steele. As I understand it, he'd been in Remington Steele since 1982 and was approached by Broccoli and Saltzman about playing Bond in The Living Daylights after his contract ended in 1986, during what was expected to be the show's final season, but the cancellation of Remington Steele was reversed after the last season obtained better-than-expected ratings and Brosnan's contract extended so he couldn't take the Bond role without breaking it. Stephanie Zimbalist had also been offered a big movie role (she was the first choice to play Lewis in RoboCop) which she had to turn down as a result. Timothy Dalton had actually been offered the role after Connery quit in the 1960s but turned it down because he didn't think he was old enough, and Moore had obviously been offered the role in Dr No instead of Connery but declined because I think he was still working on The Saint. I think Henry Cavill was in contention to play Bond before Craig was cast as well (and probably will be again whenever Craig decides to go). Time to share an opinion that will no doubt be mocked. I think that even the worst of Brosnan's Bond films (And that's "The World is Not Enough" not "Die Another Day") is still far better then the worst of Daniel Craig's Bond films. (Which is all of them apart from Casino Royale.) I could not stand Craig as Bond and the movies he was in (apart from Casino Royale) were just bad-wrong.
