Clarksville is close to Nashville, which is a fantastic town. Live as far away from post as possible (I was off of Exit 11) and it's fine.

I got to go explore the old old ASPs out on Campbell. It was cool cause it was also near the TN line. It also snowed. That's my Campbell story

Dudes. I dropped my UQR today after getting into a few top 15 grad schools. Got a mixture of "nothing but unemployment for miles" and "take me with you." This was the first day I've been truely happy about the future in awhile. Six month countdown starts now. Life is pretty rad.

I'm having a very Army day. I support multiple customers in the IC and am fully read on as a result. Every IC customer just reciprocates my clearance, but not the Army! No, the Army wants me to sign a new NDA and receive the briefings, even though the clearance is held by a DoD entity. But wait, none of the briefing videos are working so I have to sit around like an rear end in a top hat all day until another INDOC location at the same installation can let me watch the same videos later today. This is basically another version of having to redo your Wheeled Vehicle Accident Avoidance course even though you have the certificate, and then the computers in the company HQ not working and the training NCO telling you to wait until after COB to go use the ones in the BN HQ

Everyone keeps telling me unless you got in a top 20 (really a top 10) it's kind of a waste of money, which I 100% agree with. The application process is tedious and expensive (gently caress you GMAT), but there are a few highly ranked schools that seem to like vets. Get above a 650 and ideally come from a top 25 undergrad and you're set. Also don't discount some of the highly ranked European MBAs. INSEAD was ranked higher than Harvard this year, and then there's LSE, IE, IESE and a small handful of others that big banks, hedge funds, consultancies recruit from (if that's what you're going for). European schools also have some kind of weird love affair with American vets, I got into some overseas schools I had no business getting into. Right now I'm deciding between a t10 school in the northeast or a European t15. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions on the process.

I went to the Ed Center at Rucker and asked about how funding would work if I went to get my MBA after a UQR and they (unsurprisingly) had no idea besides explaining the basic $22k/year cap, etc. I just want to have a realistic expectation of how much it'll cost me out of pocket.

As far as I can tell the best way to pay for grad school is the GI Bill. However your eligibility depends on your days served minus your ADSO from any scholarship you got for ROTC, if that was your commissioning source. I got a 4 year scholarship and owe 4 years of active duty service and I'm getting out literally to the day on the four year mark, so I don't qualify for anything. All loans scholarships, and hopefully a fellowship. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this, I'd love to hear about free money I missed. I have a meeting with the VA to start the claims process on an lovely injury I got so we'll see if they know anything else.

Can I use Voc Rehab for grad school? I'm going for accounting if it makes a difference, which is a fairly in demand field I have to do more research on this approach, but from what I understand you can sit for the CPA if you have 150 education hours. It's 132 for a bachelors in accounting and I will be graduating with 140ish. Could I just do ten more hours of undergrad and take some BS courses and sit for the CPA and skip grad school altogether? boop the snoot fucked around with this message at 05:34 on Jan 19, 2017 |

TBeats posted:Can I use Voc Rehab for grad school? I'm going for accounting if it makes a difference, which is a fairly in demand field Yes, it only has to be 150 credits. Several people in my classes were doing that, taking grad classes at the undergrad level just to pad out the 150 credit hours. I said gently caress it because I don't really want to go the CPA/public accounting firm route.

I am just starting Voc rehab. As a video editor/photographer. I am going to pursue my graduate degree. This has been ok'd. They won't let me take a minor in communications but I'll have the credits from r it anyways. This, coupled with disability, is my "job" for the next few years. I make enough to live somewhat comfortably, without taking a part time job. I would have more if I didn't smoke as much weed, but it helps me with my bullshit so whatever. Getting kicked out is the best decision I ever made.

You guys joke about porn malware, but the afghan artillery officers who maintained control over the whatever D30 howitzer ballistic calculator we gave them did this regularly. The device was just a pda that ran an app, they used it on the side to browse porn off the MWR's wi-fi. Several times we asked them to use the thing only for them to say it wasn't working and under closer scrutiny was under some ransomware lockout or chugging from all the zombie programs running on it.
