I wanna get a tattoo based on symbols from the Arditi Del Popolo, an Italian militant anti-fascist group from the early 20s. Thing is all their symbols look kinda fascist-y, am I wrong?

The skull with the knife is just rad on it's own without any anti-fascist connotations. The fasces being split by an axe is a bit dodgier I get the feeling that most people that recognize the fasces at all would understand that the addition of the axe isn't a celebration.

The Wailing hosed me up good. I had no idea Cliff Martinez has been around for decades. I started watching The Underneath and was like "Wow this score sounds good. It also sounds quite modern for a 22 year old film." Then Martinez's name came up. I've always liked Peter Gallagher. I met him once like a decade ago and he was a cool dude.

I'm celebrating our country devolving into a fascist dystopia by watching the live action adaptation of Terra ForMars, a racist as gently caress manga about animal based superowers and cockroaches that are caricatures of black people, directed by Takashi Miike

Magic Hate Ball posted:The problem with XLICK is that it's a schmalzy piece of poo poo that uses an offensive "magical idiot" trope to sell us on the hidden beauty of a national tragedy, and that national tragedy is the fact that it was written in the first place. Well, no. If you've seen the film, you know about the narrative twist where it's revealed that we've been seeing events from the perspective of a magical (unemployed?) single mother who constructs an elaborate, decaffeinated simulacrum of New York City in order to teach her tactless "idiot" son to cope with his (prexisting) fear of strangers, skyscrapers, public transit, etc. In other words, XLIC is a therapeutic narrative where those traumatized by 9/11 (and Americans in general) are conceived of as, at their core, adult-children unable to handle certain images without protective intervention 'from outside' - which is, of course, effectively your stance.

I watched 1984 last night (not the fabulous '56 version adapted by Nigel Kneale and starring Peter Cushing), and it didn't quite strike me before how silly it seemed. A much more English dystopia is something like the hilariously dull 1990 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2DL9-Bx1ME, sort of a British Amerika, or The Execution of Gary Glitter.
