Just so we're on the same page "safely ignored" is the C-SPAM Catgirl Comintern's euphemism for "purged with extreme prejudice" right?

we no longer have the power to purge after HE's mod powers were usurped by the counter revolutionaries. the best we have now is the threat of over the internet rear end rape, which is only a few notches down on the wheel of power.

On that tack, could anyone explain to me why political parties had organized paramilitary wings in Weimar Germany. (And other parts of Europe) The idea that was the norm blows my mind

If you were politcally active in Wiemar germany you'd probably want a paramilitary at your back.

Weeping Wound posted:I thought the point of war tourism was to fight without any consequence to yourself? There is never any point where you're fighting in a war and not in mortal danger. Especially not when you're fighting with an underequipped militia. War tourism is when people travel to war zones for the thrill of being in a crisis area, but they're neverr in any real danger because white foreign nationals are going to be protected by the state. There was another American volunteer who died fighting for the YPG a month ago.

I don't know, is the trick that PPG is actually being trained by the YPG as a propaganda tool or that we just all like him for his beliefs? I know he's there because he believes in the cause and wants to help, but even then, I feel it's escapism. Maybe I'm wrong in disliking what PPG does?

SSJ_naruto_2003 posted:it's escapism to leave a cushy western life for a war where you may die? The dreary inevitability of neoliberalism is so overwhelming, some people would rather risk dying in a war zone. That said, I wouldn't compare someone like PPG who has genuine ideological commitments to somebody like Caro, who just wanted an excuse to kill people.
