I now need to work out how to convert the Guija Pilot into something other than a terrible D.Va cosplayer. Possibly a head and arm swap with the engineer woman from that one Dire Foe pack in overalls?

Mostly because she's got a hard hat and is holding a clipboard, which doesn't fit "mech pilot" to me. Having arms holding a gun makes her look more like the source model, which helps avoid confusion (especially in case someone is using that Dire Foes model as their HVT).

I have one as an HVT, considering repainting it as a Haqq pilot as it seems every actual pilot model is terrible.

Can confirm, Haqq is tres cool.

I like all the models except the Shasvastii, but that's just because they haven't really dug their tentacles into me. Over all, I'm pretty happy that there are no models calling to me to rush out and buy them for a month because my paint queue is getting stupid.

E: Hack Slam is an army I don't want to start because they are very popular in my meta. 3/8 players from the tourney I wrote up were Haqq. Don't wanna step on any toes.

Yeah they're every Wednesday BUT! There have been a couple of weekend events. Next one is this Sunday (which is probably too short notice) where we're mostly going to be painting up the Infinity terrain, but we're hoping to make them a bit more regular. And include more games, rather than just painting :v:

Split a Red Veil box with a friend, and got the Yu Jing models for my upcoming Terracota Army faction. Really loved the models; the new Tiger Soldier is badass, the poses are nice and fluid without being silly, and the Hsien is just boss.

The Hsien came without the weird back wings/antennae, though, and I only noticed after I unpacked all the blisters so I don't know the complaint code. I sent an e-mail with all of them and explained the situation.

Now to decide if I want the double-Missile Launcher Yan Huo or the HMC version...

The pawsting business is tough work.
Thread, I have a dilemma. I have been tasked with painting Joan 2.0. On one hand, when I run her she's hanging around with Santiago knights, so I think it'd look cool if I did her tabard like theirs, with the black and red cross. On the other hand, big red flowing thing really pops and sells the motion of the model, so maybe it's best to stick with the studio scheme.

Internet, please make decisions for me.

I think she was a Knight of Santiago first, and then transferred to the Hospitaller Knights. If so, she's still likely be wearing the Red even if she was hanging with her old school bros.

Users of MayaNet, would you say the usefulness of the app is worth picking up a cheap(er) iPad mini 2 or 4 for?

Army builder on android is... somewhat... functional at best. But having something with the wiki built in alone would be a godsend for my forgetful rear end.

Yuhuh. He was a great guy, fun to play against, but jeeezus. It was firefight, I had a Tik and spit montessa/peacemaker list with a Bagh mari sniper Harris and alkali for backup. It had done solid work in a few test matches but, uh, wow. I hadn't really expected that.

The jotun was just an unkillable brick without any sort of exp ammo or hacker, and the seraph could jump and murder at will. Was impressively vicious.

If you're in London (going by the Dark Sphere mention) and looking for Infinity games, I'm going to recommend my local club HATE. Infinity's pretty popular there, the members are a good bunch and we've already poached a fair few players from DS as they seem to prefer it.

Are the Infinity people chill with new players that aren't quite au fait with the rules? Like I understand the basics but don't want some arsehole tapping his foot while I have to flip through the rulebook.

If you let people know you're new, most people are chill about it. Most people are also cool with answering questions or helping you out.

We've all been there.
That's why the wiki exists too. I've been playing for a bit over a year now and I'd say that about once every two or three games I'm still checking through the rules.

The cool thing is that they are complicated enough to let you do what ever you want. The downside is that sometimes you run into weird scenarios that just don't crop up all that often. Though, the rule book and the wiki do tend to have a lot of examples.

It's rare that you come across something that doesn't have a clear enough explanation or an example that clarifies how things should work out.

...and if you've somehow hosed yourself over many people are cool with letting you walk an order back. ("Are you sure you want to do that?")

This game's competitive scene isn't plagued by the "balls out!" mentality of warmachine, which admittedly they've been better about. I sometimes play with some of the top NA players who do/organize the nova open and they're the friendliest guys. I think one is like the #1 player on ITS?

Yeah, the competition for Infinity isn't so fierce... Not enough events are held to make it so. I've been bouncing in and out of the US top ten depending on how long it's been since the last tournament.

Don't worry, they're very good with that - there was a "Back To School" tournament last year (which I won!) to get more players up to speed with the rules, but there's normally two players on hand who are pretty much walking rulebooks and they're happy to help out.

Two more Sunday events have just been announced on the 12th and 26th.

I remember him saying he only wants to hold the spot for a year or so so that he can get a painted mini from Giraldez. That would own if that's the case. Just remembered that I'm looking to get his second masterclass book if it's still available. Missed out on the first.

To get Giraldez vol. 2, I signed up to be notified if any of the Miniature Market preorders came open. One did, so now I'm just waiting for them to get their copies in. Could be worth a shot, even if it currently says they're sold out.

I don't think you're missing a whole lot from volume one, apart from the sweet Joan sculpt. It's a lot of "I did this, then I did this, then I did this," with a translation barrier and a couple of random skips in logic. Volume 2 is supposed to be more about technique than demonstration.
