I associate "expansion" with significant content being added to a game like in the old days (Lord of Destruction, Frozen Throne, Yuri's Revenge). DLC is content that's usually much shorter (map packs, 3 hour side-stories). Then you have microtransactions (keys, skins, "time saver" unlocks, Praxis points, currency, Shark Cards). It would be weird to put Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine in the same category as DLC, but it is content you can download.  Pillars of Eternity did their thing with The White March. Blizzard still loves expansions.- Alright, I'm going to start Lightning Returns pretty soon. Anything I should know before going in? I just want to see all the silly outfits.

It all depends on positioning since you don't get to aim attacks (your people attack their own targets) but there are a ton of different unit types and lots of potential squad builds. It feels very promising.
