I hope he gets claimed so he's forced to move against his will. Without his consent, if you will. Actually, don't. He'll just get send down to the minors and that probably exactly what he wants.

I know it was one game and that game was against the Leafs, but the Blues looked night and day different. Defensemen were holding the blueline and activating in the offensive zone, there was not a ton of dump-and-chasing, and the team seemed to be pushing the play rather than taking it slow. This was especially noticeable when they had the lead; no sitting back and making the safe play to allow the Leafs constantly attack. I'm not saying this is all on Yeo or that it will continue, but it was a breath of fresh air. If they play like this against the Pens, I will be excited about the Blues again.

Regarding Shaw as You Can Play/LGBT ambassador, it seems he's trying to learn from mistakes and not be a hateful poo poo anymore. http://www.outsports.com/2017/2/2/14486998/nhl-gay-lgbt-ambassadors Which is cool by me, so I won't even make a sardonic comment about taking stupid, poorly timed penalties.

Jacob Trouba has been pretty involved in community out reach since he re-signed, being in the ballet and now being the You Can Play ambassador. Probably just rehabilitating his image but I can hope that he actually likes Winnipeg and will re-sign for 8 years because he is proving that he can be a number 1 d man.

Leafs have been playing like poo poo the last month or so, so grain of salt on that performance.

Speaking of contracts, it's interesting to see the cap fall on it's face compared to what we expected say 2-3 years ago. I wonder if Bergevin was prepared for a 32 year old Subban with a 9MM hit on a 85MM cap, or Poile with a 40 year old Weber with a 8MM hit on a 95MM cap.

Well, Poile had limited options in the Weber contract situation. Though them taking the 4 firsts and letting Weber go is an interesting timeline to consider. They probably would have been a little worse for the last 4 years but they were bad for 2 of those years anyway. Probably would be better off now. edit: Philly's cap situation would have been hilarious.

I grew up near there. I'd be totally down for this e: Tbh though a team like the Islanders should not be moving. They've got 4 loving Stanley Cups. A team with that kind of history needs to find a way to stay.

No no, it's hilarious. It should be a mid-season tradition. How about this, on every Friday the 13th players can only use wooden sticks.
|
# ? Feb 4, 2017 00:46 |
|
Actually it's brilliant because it might produce a mod-season bump in scoring as goalies adjust to their new gear. Then by next season they'll have figured everything out and goals will average back downwards because all NHL goalies are all freaks of nature, even the "lovely" ones. So queue up another regulation change next February, same result!
