I usually just try it on non-poors who have the purple happiness and it seems to work like 33% of the time. There doesn't seem to be a downside to trying.

Is there a way to rest my hostesses without opening the club without them working?

For Majima's cabaret club game, when can you use the extend visit option and have the customer accept? Is it when the customer wants a long session?

From what I can tell:

The wealthier a customer is the more likely they are to accept an extension. Poor will almost never, Mega-Wealthy will all the time.
The happier a customer is the more likely they are to accept an extension.
Short Sessions seem less likely than Long Sessions but that may just be a coincidence.

No, but once you get Busy Bee Saki you basically have someone who never needs a break and so you can have her and some gold-rank hostesses carry the club while your Platinums recover.

For anyone who has trouble bowling, this is the best way I've found. Go with the lightest ball, start from the left and just mash X. Power 90+ and no spin will get a Strike 90% of the time.

EDIT: Nevermind, this one is better, because the lack of commentary and also the lack of Kiryu's shirt. :swoon:

I think it also helps on extension if the girl fits his other criteria. Like a guy may get purple happy face if he came in looking to party and you gave him high party skill, but if he also prefers cute and the girl is an X on cute he's less likely to extend, but pretty much always would if she was double circle cute. I'm not sure if that's 100% true but what I've seen anecdotally supports it.

The last part of town is really expensive and unless you like standing around waiting for payouts and get lucky/save scum in JCC you're going to be there for a little bit. Finishing it though gives you the last and secret combat style for Kiryu. Majima also has one with his Cabaret Club

I believe level 30 is the max. They'll never change from silver to gold or whatever. I have some silvers that do better than my golds at times, especially if they are really high in one stat. I think their theoretical max will always be lower.

I weirdly love that about these games. for a crime game about awful crimes/drama/violence/perverts/etc. the body count is usually pretty low and most of the time its suicide or a person looking for redemption kills the villain in some suicidal way. i guess its cultural thing. but i like the ludcrious amounts of brutality you can unleash on some random hoodlum(break his face 20 times and stab him with a katana) and he will still get up. i guess kyru and the rest of the protags learned from batman.

Chapter 10 : the visit at Tojo headquarters was really satisfying combat wise : hordes of goons getting wrecked by stone lanterns and dual techs with Oda and Tachibana, neat 2.1% trophy for having 3 of them also
I've put off following the story because Kiryu going to Sotenburo seems like madness and it's 3am here.
Also the bat tatoo reveal ! At this point I'm not sure Tachibana really Makoto's torturer because the tatoo could be a triad clan thing, but I don't have high hopes for him not being a slave trader rear end in a top hat.

Might as well use this as an opportunity for the hopefully not really necessary PSA: Real-life yakuza organizations are really really bad. Like, maybe arguably not as horrible as some other organized crime groups, but still absolutely reprehensible. Their most well-documented and successful line of work is human slavery and forced prostitution.

ImpAtom
May 24, 2007

I doubt you need a PSA for that in a game which features 90% insane evil Mafia members, 5% insane good Mafia members who are on the outs for the other 90% and 5% okay guys who really are only part of the Mafia because of obligation.

well yeah. no poo poo. i just find it to be an interesting cultural difference from romancing the mafia, to this game romancing the yakuza. one of the reasons i loved mafia 3 so much was it didn't romance the mafia. they were shown a brutal, monstirious assholes, i mean everyone in that game is, and the bodycount is in the atmosphere. yakuza has genuinly good people being part of criminal organazation because duty. majima is hosed up and a sorta lovely person, but even he isnt that bad. but then again all the villians are the evillest fucks ever.

I think this depends on what you mean by romanticising. At least for the Yakuza series it depicts being in as kind of terrible and you're actually not a pet of the organization more than you are.

Yakuza absolutely romanticizes the Manly Men Having Manly Fights and Manly Feelings thing a ton but that seems like a side effect rather than a part of the Yakuza element.

It is however fair to say it romanticizes the gently caress out of hostess clubs.

TheLoser

You make my korokoro go dokidoki.
I think the series romanticizes yakuza life the same way you see mobster life in a lot of classic gangster flicks. We get the high points of The Life most of the time and then get hit with the ugly bits in very brief flashes.
That flashback in Chapter 3 where Majima got tortured by his old boss and Nishiki's descriptions of seeing torture victims are pretty drat grim, even for what's supposed to be a mostly serious crime drama.

In terms of the degree of romanticization, it's worth bearing the practices of the organizations in mind, not just how individuals are depicted. I say this as a big fan of other elements of the series; it's basically a big PR victory for organized crime in Japan. It's unlikely that many of the gravure models used for the phone card/videos stuff in the series entered that business voluntarily. Yakuza syndicates are a major factor in the meat factory of Japanese idol industry, from child pop singers on through pornography. It's a mechanism for wringing maximum value from women as sex objects.
