So... I've been watching Akiba's Trip (ep. 5) and Kobayashi's Dragon Maid (ep. 3), and uh... is the whole IRL video game placement a recent thing? Between the two episodes, there were two Street Fighter games (2 Turbo & 5), a Souls game, and some F2P kart racer.

You're probably right. I didn't recognize the chest mimic, though the armor and "YOU DIED" was pretty spot on.

Akiba's Trip was a blatant advert for a game, the Maid Dragon ones were mock ups done specifically for the show designed to resemble popular games (Dark Souls and Mario Kart) but aren't. The Dark Souls fake had a pause button

A pause button wouldn't really change much about how Dark Souls plays, it would only mess with the online stuff. But it's one of those things brought up to say this game is so hard, you guys.

It's good stuff.

I'm not really a big MMO person, but I've always thought XIV 1.0 being poo poo, and the devs subsequently owning it and rebooting so successfully and even writing the reboot into the actual lore of the world was a pretty cool story.
