poty posted:surely its more financially efficient to buy some sort of unemployment / financial emergency insurance and use the money for the debt. you can cancel it and actually save the money later well, group disability insurance is sometimes available through your employer, and that will cover some catastrophes some of the time. it's not really practical on an individual level though. adverse selection plus narrow appeal = lovely insurance market. there is no substitute for cash savings.

At the end of each chapter, he talks about some real world examples of stuff he's worked on and how algorithms from the chapter ended up being the right tool. Furthermore, in my class, like many others, we used bits from CLRS. I'm normally a person who enjoys a math book, but I just could not care when reading it.

the answer is there's nobody within driving distance of my home who is qualified to be my supervisor so it's all remote from here on out

this was a good HN commentquote:Just put all the current buzzwords on your resume. They won't know the difference. You'll screw up the technical interview somehow just like everyone else does, and they'll scratch their heads and go "no one is as smart as me! shortage!" and they might hire you anyway because you said you liked the same movie as they did, or something equally trivial.
