So i'm pretty uneducated on the subject so I will ask you, mock thread,

why do we care now about government donations leading to government jobs? is it just not something that came up much in the past, is it just that Betsy DeVos has been given a "real" job, or is it that it's another instance of "oh well NOW we care" like with the muslim ban and such?

Houston, we're Havana problem.
cabinet-level positions are usually people who have experience in the area or some broad government experience, not people who are super rich and give a lot of money to the candidate. hoping that this is helpful.

It's the fact the job is too real to place the role this way. Donors are supposed to get fun ambassadorships not cabinet positions.

why does it matter that the vote was for "his own cabinet nominee"? he did what the president of the senate does. dems really need to stop complaining about repub actions that are literally established in the constitution if they have any hope of being taken seriously.

ah yes using their senate majority to confirm cabinet appointments is totally #RiggedCabinet

this is even dumber for democrats to complain about when you consider the context that the senate democrats are the loving ones who removed filibusters for cabinet appointments

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...m=.0d745a2a537f

quote:

A little over three years ago, Senator Mitch McConnell stood on the Senate floor and issued a warning to the Democrats who then controlled the majority.

“I say to my friends on the other side of the aisle, you’ll regret this,” McConnell, then the minority leader, told them. “And you may regret it a lot sooner than you think.”

At the urging of Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrats had just voted along strict party lines to change the rules of the Senate, deploying what had become known in Washington as “the nuclear option.” McConnell and his Republican colleagues were furious. Under the new rules, presidential nominees for all executive-branch position—including the Cabinet—and judicial vacancies below the Supreme Court could advance with a simple majority of 51 votes. The rules for legislation were untouched, but the 60-vote threshold for overcoming a filibuster on nearly all nominations was dead.

I dunno if "but they would have done it too" is really a good defense here. They coulda let repubs hang themselves on the issue but instead they did it themselves and now repubs can smug it up about how it's the dems' fault.

this is a stupid comment, because the republicans had not invoked the nuclear option for cabinet positions in previous republican administrations with republican majorities in the senate.

it is my understanding that they did not need to invoke anything for these cabinet positions because the democrats already lowered the threshold for cloture to 50 in order to approve Obama's cabinet. You only need 60 votes for cloture for actual votes on bills, since 2009.

this is what "invoking the nuclear option" means in regards to filibuster. the democrats invoked it and now it's the standard. now they're crying tears now that this standard is being used against them.

Dude wrote a book about Super Mario Brothers 3 that was series of words complaining about how he got bullied by "jocks" and hasn't looked back since.
http://www.reaxxion.com/4707/the-disappointment-of-moviebobs-book-smb3-brick-by-brick

quote:

Bob goes on to talk about how he “needed it to be good” because “Mario was my friend”. He then goes on to describe an emotional blow brought on by the game Yoshi’s Island. You see, that game showed Mario as having been born in the Mushroom Kingdom, rather than Brooklyn as Mario lore had said up until that point.

The rest of this section really doesn’t have that much to do with Mario. He goes on to basically give a short life story. I for one didn’t care for this bait and switch on Bob’s part. Just because no one in their right mind would pay to read your autobiography doesn’t mean you need to sneak that crap into a book on Mario 3.

Just to give you an idea of how far off topic Bob wanders, he describes an incident when he was a contributor on a public access show as a movie reviewer. Apparently the host of the show, a conservative Christian, didn’t care for a negative review of the Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion, and chewed out and fired Bob over it. Given Bob’s history of immature and petty behavior towards those of different political views than him, I’m skeptical as to whether that’s really how it went. Point is though, what in the hell does this have to do with Mario?

And the next part is Bob describing all of the enemies, characters, and each and every level of Mario 3 as he plays through it, as well as splicing in journal entries of his life at the time. The analysis of Mario 3 isn’t that bad really, but the personal stuff ranges anywhere from boring and irrelevant to painfully awkward to read.
