Colonial Air Force posted:My oldest brought home one of those Schoalstic book catalogs, and they have a Lego Batman Movie book with an exclusive Batman in a tartan kilt and broadsword minifig. I'm really tempted.... Go for it, the tartan minifig is awesome. Bonus points buying from Schoalastic which supports your school. I didn't realize they had the 99 cent store here in Burbank where I'm traveling for work. Second store I tried had some, I grabbed a couple Funpack: LOTR Gollum & Logoles & Gimli, a Wu and a Zane Ninjago, Bad Cop and a Benny Spaceship, Chimea Cragger and an Oz Wicked Witch. If I wasn't flying with only a carry on I would have grabbed a few more. Mostly I want them for the minifigs. I've got a few incomplete mixed sets from a Craigslist bulk buy and having a minifig to throw in when I sell off the stuff I don't want makes it easier. I don't have Dimensions so if anyone wants just the discs just let me know.

Am I misremembering, or did 90s Lego sets have basically no green bricks? Why is that?

The Duck of Death posted:Am I misremembering, or did 90s Lego sets have basically no green bricks? Why is that? Brown too--remember the terrible black "trees" in Castle sets circa 1990? Dunno why, they obviously had those colors in the supply chain since they used them for minifigs/baseplates/accessories. Googling around, one page claims that it was part of Lego's "no war toys" policy: they didn't want kids building army-green tanks (which would have been pretty dated by the 90s, but there was still a traditional association there.) No idea how accurate this claim is.

I'm glad they mostly gave up on that policy, I mean, it's not like kids weren't already building with a 'put as many guns and missiles on it as possible' policy of their own

After seeing the movie, I'm curious how much DNA the Batmobile, Scuttler, and Batplane share. They basically all turn into each other at some point.

Mighty Micros are kind of bitterweet because there are so many great characters and the little car builds are actually pretty neat, but the figures are ruined by the little midget legs. I feel like you get half of a figure. Just grabbed Cap America vs Red Skull though and I really wish they would do more stuff in that military green. In fact that set is the only time I have actually seen it.

Sometimes I hate you Americans and your sweet deals. The best deal I have seen on Dimensions was 4.99€ for the non licensed packs, I.e. Benny, ninja etc. And those were immediately sold out.

Saw pictures of the "ultimate batmobile" set all over Instagram today. It looks completely over the top and ridiculous and I want it. Also there seems to be box photos of the old fishing shop from Lego ideas too. Edit: Alpine Mustache fucked around with this message at 03:00 on Feb 11, 2017 |

Did anyone get the free set for going to the movie at an AMC? What exactly is it?

Phimosissy posted:Did anyone get the free set for going to the movie at an AMC? What exactly is it? It's only at 3D theatres so I was bummed but honestly if it's the polybag I saw pictures of, it is literally plain old Lego Batman and then this weird phantom zone hovering cloud drone. Aka: the same Batman any Lego Batman fan has 10 of, and some weird thing you can build with about 20 tiny leftover parts.

The same polybag is also available at Target for $4. Cinemark is giving away a Tuxedo Batman keychain if you buy a 3D ticket.

I had some surgery done this past week, so to help me keep my mind off the pain I ordered the Tower of Orthanc. Should be fun trying to keep my fingerprints off of all that black. Was actually surprised that it's only been marked up about 10% since it went out of production.

Gotta say, as a father of a 4 year old, I see a lot of the cgi Ninjago on Netflix. I'm not a fan. But I just saw the Ninjago trailer and it looked good. I'm in!

Lego Batman Movie was good, although I feel like it was more aimed at kids with some additional "jokes for adults", like a lot of kids' movies these days, rather than the true cross-generational appeal that The Lego Movie had. My 5 y/o, the true intended audience, loved it of course.

Yeah the movie was super good. Definitely almost as good as the lego movie, but not quite. Felt more like a sequel to the lego movie rather than its own thing and definitely felt like the kid and dad playing on the batman table, what with suddenly sauron, daleks, gremlins and such suddenly showing up to wreak havoc from the phantom zone Very fun movie, I will definitely see it again, my favorite character is the scuttler
