dogsicle posted:fwiw I'd also recommend Rakugo Shinju as a show to binge. S1 can be watched comfortably and left alone, but S2 felt like it was hurt by the weekly breaks so i stopped watching at ep3 until the season ends. yeah that one's on hold as a victim of me just being so drat busy these last few weeks, same with LWA

the succubus said something about there being an age gap between them as big as between machi and herself, which would add up to somewhere in the 30s. dunno if that was a mistranslation or he really is older than he looks/acts.

I feel like I read 28 somewhere, but in looking for it all I've found so far is him saying he's been teaching for 4 years.

It's actually a super simple term if you a) understand the etymology and origin, and b) know the feeling of moe. Moe as descriptor is a product of, not the basis of the term. The core meaning is affixed to a feeling that not everyone can understand, i.e. Normies

I'll tell you what's godamn good and that's Konosuba. I really want a full fledged Konosuba RPG where you have to solve puzzles matching the different weaknesses/strengths and personalities of your teammates. The 2d one doesn't count.

dogsicle posted:ACCA is my favorite of the season but is also the sort of show i wish i had waited to watch all at once. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and Saga of Tanya the Evil are also good. I'd recommend against Gabriel Dropout if you're looking for unique moe comedy. I was looking out for ACCA before this season but from what I hear it does seem like a slow burn kind of show. Kytrarewn posted:Is there a reason that you're unwilling to watch the precursor of a show getting its sequel this season, like Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu? I'll check out Gabriel Dropout lots of people here recommending that. I don't mind precursor shows but I am already watching a lot of older anime. I'll watch Rakugo eventually I hear only good things about it. Also about moe, I particularly dislike the slice of life/drama moe in which really nothing happens. You only watch because of cute things and I like cute things but its good enough on its own to get me through 12 or however many episodes there is. A lot of people reference moe when they talk about K-on but K-on does actually have a plot even if its not much and characters who aren't just for show.

Gabriel Dropout is much more a straight gags+cute stuff type of show.

yeah gabdrop is funny but maidragon is an equally good comedy that also focuses on characters actually developing and exploring their relationships

Maidragon in particular also has nifty production notes and translation notes being written about it, if you're the type to want to dig more deeply into your shows.

Space Flower posted:Guy didn't get recc'd boku no pico. I think it's okay to just let him check it out Oh sure, it's a fine show and if that's what they want then def go for it. They pretty much specified "no SoL where nothing really happens" though, so it seemed relevant to point out that Gabriel Dropout is basically that (+with a focus on comedy) so they know what they're getting into and don't come back like "folks, this is exactly what I didn't ask for".
