I am okay with this. Especially if I get to ride the Bull Krogan.

From the gameplay footage I think scanning this time refers to walking around the environment and scanning things to unlock codex entries (like Metroid Prime) or getting clues for investigations and I'm on board for that
Probably going to work more or less the same way as in Inquisition, since above quote.
You press a button and it highlights intractable stuff in a (maybe upgradeable) radius around you, as well as indicating when there's a hidden object near you and in what direction it is.

did they ever use the digitiser to turn cortana into a real life fuckable blue lady? we stopped playing but that seemed to be telegraphed pretty hard

No. You'd assume that was the story behind Chief going rogue - wanting to find Cortana and resurrect her.

But it's not. Chief goes AWOL for like a day and the trailers are all lies and Cortana comes back out of nowhere so she can lead an AI revolution against the UNSC.

I suppose it's possible to use scanning in a cool way to encourage exploration and discovery. But if the scanning is just trudging around farming resources (ME2) then it sucks.

I know where I'd put my money for ME:A.

Yeah it's certainly possible to have a fun scanning mechanic (honestly I'd be fine with one that just didn't suck) but it's pretty tone deaf to just offhandedly mention scanning is back with no elaboration during an interview. Everyone will assume he means scanning as it was in ME2.

And if that is what it will end up being...well I guess that will just reinforce my belief that Bioware is now just full of people who make games for themselves but unfortunately are also really weird.

I'm playing through Mass Effect 3 again ahead of Andromeda's release. I was wondering something about the lore. Every civilization decides to use the Citadel as the base of their galactic government. Why? Is there anything special about it outside of it being a giant space station?

It is the literal and metaphorical center of the Relay network. It is also huge and easily defensible with its ability to close up and is resistant to most forms of conventional attack. It also self-maintains.

So I never finished the dialogue of the turian and asari in the docking bay on the Citadel where he was going off to war. At the end when you find out he wants his family to go to Sanctuary, total bummer. Mass Effect 3 has a ton of dark concepts in it and Sanctuary might be the worst. Very heavy poo poo.

Oh, it gets worse. There's the human lady whose family disowned her when she married an asari and she and the embassy officer go through tons of hoops and paperwork to get sent to safety with the soldier's wife's family... on Thessia. Or Joker's family and the suicidal commando in the hospital.

I really liked the Asari commando arc at the hospital. That was cool.
I didn't like having to enter and exit and go back and forth to hear each part of it, though. I also thought the chick who liked the SOlarian and bought him armor was cute :3:

So we've got two Alliance soldiers, one a soldier and the other a biotic, an asari we meet in an alien ruin, a turian soldier, and a krogan (presumed) merc. Are there more squadmates after Catflaps or are we really getting like 5/6ths of the original Mass Effect team?

To be fair, Garrus was a lovely cop who decided to go rogue not a soldier at least in ME1. Then he turned into not-Batman in 2 and finally a defense contractor in 3.

Most people want Wrex specifically again.

People don't tend to like Store Brand Wrex, if the past is any indication. Look at Fire Emblem Fates. They brought back six characters from Awakening. The three characters who were direct carryovers, like Garrus in Mass Effect 2, did good-to-okay in the polling, even though they weren't as well written for the most part, since the writing in Fates was outsourced and mostly bad.

Meanwhile, the three characters that got I-can't-believe-it's-not-butter knockoffs, despite being based on really popular characters (Tharja, f'rinstance, was number four overall in a recent series-wide popularity poll.) flopped. Hard. (The most popular of them came in at ninety-one)
