I want to paint more infinity dudes, but sadly the insulation in the living room, where my desk is, is rather poor so when it gets really cold out it gets too cold to sit there comfortably. I have my first Gecko about 1/3 painted, but it is taking longer than I would like.

Alright guys, I did an interview with Bostria last year for BOLS, and I'm currently talking to CB to secure another interview, this time with the person responsible for writing the lore of the setting. As before, I'm asking for suggestions regarding questions you guys wanna see answered. Have at it!

I'd be keen to know how deep the fluff is for the fall of the US/Russia/EU etc after the dawn incident. Also have a sweet as hell croc man conversion I got to play against on the weekend. Shown moments before he aro crit my Bagh mari boarding shotty.

I love Croc-men. Even the doofy old ones. That is one nice croc-man. Finally started assembling my Corregidor guys. Really like the menacing feeling of these tron-gimps. Anyone had any success with Wildcats? The seem like more specialized, slightly less armored Ariadna Grunts. And having learned to play with Ariadna and USAriadna that appeals to me. BS13 is freaky good IMO.

I play a link of them in my corregidor. The B5, BS 16 spirtfire guy has murdered so much stuff in a 5-link it is shameful. Aquila snipers? Gone. Iguanas? Wrecked. The link makes them move decently, so basically pick a spot in cover and start dismantling the enemy, stronger models first to make good use of the full link bonus while it's there. I just finished painting the HRL version and will try it out soon.

If you have a BS over 20 does it use the same rules as CC over 20? Say a 5 man wildcat team with a shotgun in the +6 band which would go up to BS22

That's how I figured I would use them, five man link full of bullies with an engineer as a specialist and Number 2 to save on command tokens. What would you normally pair them with? They're up next after this Iguana, so I figure Iggy will be their support unit for a while until I paint up some more units. Tomcats seem too good to pass up on; auto includes for me. Hellcats seem nice, if a little high risk/high reward. For me it would be very easy to fall into a trap of having too many AD troops and not enough orders on the table at the beginning of turn 1. I like to play missions with lots of objectives, or special rules. Nimbus Zone being one of my favourites because it changes up the dynamics so much. I was day dreaming about getting a five man link in the centre of the table near all those objectives with so many flame throwers.

I did a thing that I'm pretty happy with! It's not the best painted Xeodron ever, and I definitely got a bit sloppy with the highlights in places, but I'm still proud of what I've accomplished. Now to watch him die ineffectually to Signal's Ghulam riflemen

Silly question: how do you mark your fire arcs on that clear base? I've got clear bases too but just drew in marks with a sharpie and I don't like how sloppy it ended up looking.

# ? Feb 2, 2017 20:42 |

we're terrible people who typically don't have our bases marked. We try and point out fire arcs beforehand, and they usually mostly make sense. For a while I was notching the sides and filling them with a color.

Thanks for the tips about the HATE group, think I'll give it a go once I'm less swamped. If I'm gonna paint up some Infinity dudes there's a little project I've wanted to do for ages so, people that know the range, which would be the best models to use to make these dudes?

I used the models from here. My Corregidor models are made up to be Mass Effect, if you're wanting to use Corvus Belli models to paint in N7 appearance, I've been painting my Corregidor Intruders and Hellcats that way.

Its a cool idea, but I think it'll look too drab and dark on the table top. It's a 30 mm tall mini which you'll see from three feet away most of the time, so the details and subtle dark colors will get lost.

If you bring the highlighting up and emphasize the blues in the black it should look decent. The big issue is that there's no contrast in the scheme.

Hey all, After meeting some very friendly Infinity players at my LGS I've decided to jump into this game. I've been reading up on the rules and fluff and liking them so far. After talking with said infinity players and looking at the different factions I've decided to go with Aleph. I like the super badass GiTS look coupled with their rules (my impressions at least). My LGS is doing a start up league with the first game this weekend. I've grabbed Ajax and a box of Myrmidons for the upcoming game. I would appreciate any advice on both the game in general and on Aleph specifically that might not be obvious to a new player. Thanks in advance.

Infinity is a pretty nuanced game. There's no substitute for playing games. Playing frequently is the best way to learn quickly. Bring a little notebook and write down moments you were confused. Look up the rule after the game and figure out how things work. Make machinegun noises when your HMG opens up. e: oh and re:ALEPH - Learn to love your rock solid line infantry. You get a lot of fun toys, but you'll always be relying upon Thorakitai and Myrmidons. tokenbrownguy fucked around with this message at 01:02 on Feb 8, 2017 |

As a new Steel Phalanx player, players of other factions are allowed to give you a wedgie whenever they see fit. I hope someone told you beforehand - it's in the wiki if you want to look it up. More seriously, if you're playing standard ITS escalation league rules, the unit box of Myrms and Ajax as you see on the box is actually ten points over the first round limit. If you drop one of your Myrmidons down to a second chain rifle, though, you should be set. Dunno if you're doing so or just playing casual, but it might be important. A good general guideline is that rolling more dice is almost always a better idea than having a boosted roll. It's an intricate game, but low-point SP is pretty straight forward, so for your first game, just get a solid grasp on the rules for your models, their weapons, and how to figure FTF rolls.

A vital skill in playing Steel Phalanx is finding that one model that will scare the opponent into spending way too many resources on a combat beast while your Thrasymedes or some other humble specialist sneaks up and nabs objectives. Ajax is good for lower-points games, Phoenix in a link will terrify anyone, but lately Hector has been working out great for me while Acmon's duo wins the game under the table.

Make notes during your game of where you hosed up (or what worked!), and read them before your next game. It's fine to gently caress up, as long as you learn from it - somebody at our club dramatically flounced from the game because they didn't learn anything from each defeat. I've got half an A4 print out of poo poo I need to remember, and then put extra notes for ideas I've got for my list at the bottom of that. I also like this, which I picked up from a blog somewhere: quote:10 orders and no plan? Spend them like so:

glitchkrieg posted:* 2- Cleanup. The last 2 orders are some of the most important orders to spend in a turn, the Cleanup. for setting up for your opponents turn. Moving models into defensive positions, setting up suppresive fire, hiding valuble pieces and covering important fire lanes. A couple of orders spent at the end of your turn to plan for your opponent’s can make a world of difference. This is unbelievably important. If you're willing to spend two orders just winding back a link team it can make a huge difference. A big mistake I see a lot of people make is thinking that just because they won over and occupied a space during the turn that they should hang on to it. if you managed to get it once, it's no problem to get back.

Quite true. If it's a chance to maybe get into position for an assault or throw down some suppression tokens, really think about being defensive. More than once after dropping a suppression token or two on something from a position of actually not being sure what else to do with just two orders at that moment, I hear "Well... gently caress. So much for that plan." from the other side of the table.

I had my first "game" of infinity , though to be honest it was more of a demo than an actual game. Still had a great time and my personal favorite moment being when Ajax punched the team leader into stratosphere in CCQ. I had a blast even if the training wheels were on. One thing I need to work on is reminding myself about positioning in the reactive turn. To many I missed opportunities to create fire lanes. Overall I had a blast and I picked up the Steel Phalanx to add to my Aleph. Been painting up my myrmidons since I got back to my place. Will post pics soon... tl;dr Infinity is a good game.

It is a good game. And you don't stop learning major lessons for a loooong time. I've just switched from PanO sectorials to haqq vanilla. I'm learning all sorts of things about which units should be in which pool, and how much I took several high BS heavy weapons for granted. (Also just learned that charontids have msv3. Ouch.)
