If a Khador player was earnestly hoping for an Old Witch 2, it's understandable for them to be disappointed if they can no longer have the option without buying into a different faction entirely. The only other time that's happened is with Sturgis, and we knew from the get-go that he was going to be faction hopping.

They're going to have to prove to me that the Halloween Town theme is unique and interesting still. Warmachine has filled the world with 3 undead or abberation factions already (Cryx, Cephalyx, and Legion) and while it looks cool, I don't think it is terribly special, compared to the previous ones: farrow, gators, cyriss, and ret are all awesome designs imo. I'm not sure, but even if there was all he could say is "We know gently caress all"

Run down of Old Witch in the fluff: Zehvanna Agga, as she is calling herself to Khador, is a force of the land itself, an immortal being of god-like powers, possibly even older than Menoth. She wanders the land, subtly influencing the developments of the world. At the moment she is kind of allied with Khador, having assisted Vlad on a few occasions, including saving his life when he was nearly killed. She used to be part of the Circle of Orboros ages ago, but left them. Notable things we know she has done are that she was the one who trapped the Athanc of the dragon only known as the Champion, the one who fought Toruk one on one to try and get his siblings off their asses, using a combination of her own powers and the mechanical knowledge of the dwarves to create a machine to keep the Athanc imprisoned eternally. She is the one who sent Krueger on his quest that resulted in the forming of the Dragon Alliance and all that entailed.

How has nobody posted the new Skorne spoilers yet?

After a lifetime spent bloodying his hands on behalf of others, Morghoul has emerged from the world of shadows to command a house like no other—the paingivers. In battle, Dominar Morghoul is attended by two paingiver escorts who aid him in crippling his foes so that his blade may find purchase, and he empowers his army with mortitheurgical might so that they may shift like the sands of the desert to swiftly fell their foes.

TRADE POINTS: The lethal master assassin of the Skorne Empire has returned, ready to lead his warriors to quick and bloody victory. With a feat that grants Acrobatics, Overtake, and Parry Dominar Morghoul pairs best with fast moving melee troops like Praetorian Swordmen with the Praetorian Swordsmen Officer and Standard Bearer (PIP 74078 and PIP 74031), Praetorian Keltarii (PIP 74078), and Praetorian Ferox (PIP 74025).

Chiron is one of the greatest basilisks ever broken to the skorne lash, and his subjugation attests to Beast Master Xekaar’s perfection of the art of physical conditioning through pain. The beast’s physical might is matched only by the power of his destructive gaze. Entire ranks of foes wither to dust as Chiron sweeps his cold eyes across them, and enemy warbeasts tear apart their own flesh in agony at his barest glance.

TRADE POINTS: As Beast Master Xekaar’s personal warbeast, Chiron makes a perfect purchase for players who have also picked up the Skorne Battlegroup Box (PIP 74095) as he gains boosted attack rolls on his SP 10, POW 15 Annihilating Gaze ranged attack. In addition his Leadership [Basilisks] ability means that this hulking basilisk works great in tandem with other Basilisk Drakes (PIP 74005)

Not super-happy with the dumb dragon lady eye candy for morghoul, but I like the idea of him getting an assassin unit. I'm also down on a heavy character to lead a bunch of basilisks.

Probably would not be too had to find some decent replacements / change up his assistants. Maybe use a tormentor and the Blood Runner's leader. I will have to think about it, but I really dig Morghoul's look.

Unless you're somehow getting these 0.5 inch melee winter guard to charge into the rear arc of the warjack, all backstab is doing is giving you charge damage plus the +2 to attack from being in the rear arc. Backstab and charges is 3 dice for attack 4 dice for damage

Backstab is giving you boosted to-hit which is huge against warpwolves and other higher def lower arm poo poo. And getting a back arc charge on an enemy heavy after it just crashed into you isn't nearly as impossible as you make it sound. Aaaand backstab means you don't need to actually charge to still simulate the bonus, which lets the rest of the unit take shots and do other things. It adds a lot of versatility.

And even in a world where I am going to absolutely never ever get any utility out of bear's strength I'll still take tough/+2 to hit and the handcannon over the marksman's rifle.

Yes. Like I said pretty clearly:

quote:

Unless you're somehow getting these 0.5 inch melee winter guard to charge into the rear arc of the warjack

If you're not charging into the back arc, but only walking into the back arc, then a backstab has the same damage as a charge. But you're right, I forgot the backstab also adds an additional die to the melee. So relevant if you're somehow walking them behind a warpwolf, not that relevant if walking them into a crusader. If someone lets you get 3 or 4 str 12 backstabbing winter guard behind a feral, they deserve what they get.

And anyway, a warpwolf that crashes into your line and then stays there is a dead warpwolf unless it just killed your army. Don't really need a backstab gimmick for that.
