saw a linkedin post where dozens of people were having a chuckle about a job ad which covered most of my responsibilities, at the salary i'm getting, saying that the expectations & compensation were ridiculously low lol

I just got a great offer in another city. on a pure numbers basis I have to take it, but considering moving the wife, buying a new house, leaving everything I have going here does not sound like a good time. remote work is not an option. I will probably have to turn them down and I will probably never again see an offer like the dump truck full of cash they're offering me. poo poo end e/n post

i had a coworker at intel whose wife stayed back in texas to finish up her PHR certification for a year or so, he rented while looking for a place to buy when she was able to move out. i still own my place up in sac, renting it out while living in SF like yeah it sucks picking up everything and moving away from friends, institutions. but like.. have the conversation? also dump trucks full o' cash don't make up for friends and family being hours/states/timezones away, you're dooming you and your wife to rebuilding social lives in Trump's america

thanks for all of the gooney advice. there are a lot of details that I didn't mention that factor into this. I would rather stay married than have the money, that's an easy decision for me. I'm just trying to work out if there's any way to make both happen that doesn't kill me with travel. it's unlikely. oh well, some figgies can't be got.

dude, you can move out for a couple months and get a new place. not everything has to be totally perfect the first instant at all times.

Basically, just put a number to the inconvenience and see if they've met that number or not. It's fine if they haven't.

your self review should be the most blatant self aggrandizing, written in a way that your boss can copy and paste back into your review. you need to remind them all the things you do. if you're having a hard time remembering, they sure don't remember. your boss may have to argue for and defend your raise before his bosses, colleagues, and hr. give him as much ammunition as you can to do that.
