He's going to turn Mark Trail into his other interminable "adventure" strip. Even moreso than it was. With equally awful art.

The thing about A3G towards the end was you got the palpable feeling that the artist no longer gave a gently caress (the writer was another story entirely). Jam Esallen honestly thinks he's doing a great job.

Baldo So I really want to make fun of Baldo, but that Texas flag/Chile flag is apparently such a thing that Texas lawmaker actually introduced a bill asking people not to use the Chilean flag emoji when talking about Texas, so I guess they got that right. So... like, how would that bill even work? It's obviously unenforceable, was he asking for money to like, start an ad campaign? Put up flyers or something? Wizard of Id believes in climate change more than Mark Trail Big Nate There's no new Wallace the Brave from friday, so here's two random Wallace: Curtis doesn't have a punchline in the first strip, so it decided to make up for it by including two in the second strip.

So my dad boxed it up in a box bigger than me and shipped it home. First thing I did was gut that human adult sized box and draw buttons and labels on the side to turn me into the Incredible Hulk.

I like the Calvin & Hobbes where he gets the beanie with the little propeller on top, after waiting weeks and imagining himself flying through the air. Of course he's extremely mad and disappointed when it doesn't make him fly but it turns out OK because he and Hobbes play with the box. I guess the closest thing I have to that disappointment was when I ordered Sea Monkeys and finally got them. They're just brine shrimp. Boring. No, I didn't think they would wear clothes and read the paper in the water, but I figured they would be better than brine shrimp.

I've decided to fill two holes in this thread: Weekly strip Flash Gordon. Yes, that one. I'm starting from a year ago, since it provided a convenient starting point. I'll be posting two at a time until we catch up. Old Newspaper Spider-Man. You know it. You love its delusions of adequacy. It's been running a really loving long time, and our friends in the Newspaper Spider-Man thread have assembled an archive of strips going all the way back to 1999. They're worth the read, but 18 years of strips at once is a slightly intimidating read. I'll be posting them at a more sane week at a time, starting with Peter facing the greatest villain of all: a TV psychologist. (I loving love that they've been recycling the same Sunday headers since at least 1999)

Is the Keefe that does the Flash Gordon strips the same Keefe who does the artwork for Sally Forth? If so, it's great seeing that clean art style used in a different genre. Sometimes you get hints in Sally Forth that the artist wants to be doing more than the fairly-static family discussions Francesco writes for him, and I think it's great seeing him go ahead and go full-on retro-serial style.
