A forum called "debate and discussion" should have debate and discussion. debating and discussing usually has people on both sides of the topic discussing their thoughts on it, but not in D&D. it is an echo chamber.

i actually like d&d the way it is, at first you think okay so there's a subforum on a comedy website that has only serious discussion on serious subject matters but there's no comedic bent or joking in there at -all-?

but then you look around d&d and realize the entire subforum is the joke

SNL was never consistently funny. Ever. Even in its "golden age" there was maybe two funny skits in a month and everything else was garbage. There's a reason the "best of" episodes are all the same 10 skits spanning several decades.

it's true even in its best years SNL wasn't consistently funny but there was a time when at least it wasn't consistently embarrassing to experience either

There are like three moderately right wing posters, most of the "dissent" comes from the left wing circular firing squad.

Birds are terrible pets. Especially "smart" birds. It's like living with a malicious 2 year old but for 50 years. I do enjoy eating birds though. Emu and ostrich are delicious.

There's just as much joking on D&D as there are on the rest of the forums you dudes are weird as hell. Honestly PYF and D&D are probably the two most similar subforums on here in terms of discourse

It depends on the thread. In the threads where people actually argue about politics, there aren't that many jokes.

There are some threads, like the Republican thread, the political cartoon thread, the share right-wing chain emails thread, the hippie thread, and the post about sad, lonely nerds on YouTube thread where there is zero argument and posters get together and vent and whine about their political enemies. In those threads there tends to be more humor alongside the self-righteous indignation.

i believe it, the better d&d threads are more or less just picture/map/email threads that could've been put in pyf instead, stuff like that seems more like it's up d&d's alley than debate and discussion threads

Jar Jar Binks is the best character in The Phantom Menace.

I say this because he is the only character in the movie that elicits an emotional response. Every other character is so bland and boring that you just feel nothing for them. The writing and characterization is just flat and uninspired.

Jar Jar on the other hand made you feel things.

Yes, that feeling is intense hatred and loathing, but dammit, it's SOMETHING.

It's also the only tolerable movie with Seth Rogen in it. Seriously, what do people see in that guy? "I SMOKE A LOT OF WEED ISN'T THAT HILARIOUS?!?! *sucks a bong* COMEDY!!!"

Although I did like Freaks and Geeks; it's just his movies that are terrible. Jonah Hill I'll never forgive because of Allen Gregory.

I was talking with someone about 30 Minutes or Less as an OK Seth Rogen movie. Turns out he isn't in it but neither of us realized that until someone else butted in and even then we had to Bing it to believe it.

That movie doesn't even have anyone you could reasonably confuse with Seth Rogen. Maybe you were thinking of Pineapple Express.

No but it's a generic comedy action movie with completely generic actors and a generic plot and Seth Rogen is a generic comedy actor.

Oh that's what it was? Yeah that's pretty generic. I think I've seen two or three TV series with an episode like that including at least one type of Doink Doink. Also didn't it "happen" in IRL life? (I put the quotes because the dude may or may not have strapped the bomb on himself.)

No food is worth waiting in line multiple hours for. I seem to see this more and more of little restaurants with their main gimmick being "you have to show up 3 hours early if you want a chance at being served".

If a business has that much demand, they'd be stupid not to expand and I think they keep it low efficiency on purpose to make it seem more exclusive. It's just a gimmick and you can probably get food just as good at another restaurant.

Even 5-10 minutes is too long to wait for fast food. Those people I would hope are just college kids too stupid to know how to cook for themselves and/or don't know about alternatives.

I mean with in-n-out the quickness of your experience is right there in the name. If they are making you wait you should take your business elsewhere. I just can't imagine waiting an hour in a fast food line - even when I was in college at UF which constantly had a packed food court the Wendy's would get slammed at lunch but even if you are like 50-100 people back you'd still get your food within 10 minutes or so.

100% agreed. There's a pretty good breakfast place next to my home and every morning even on weekdays there's a big line up and on weekends it can go down the block. It's just pretty good breakfast food, it's nothing special. There's only so much you can do with pancakes or an omelette or sausage and toast. It's recommended in tourism brochures too so you'll see these massive lines of mostly tourists too. But there's a million other just as good or better breakfast places, why not go there? Random restaurants become over-hyped and people go just because there's a line.

When going out for dinner we decide on a place, go to it, and if it's more than a 10min wait to get in we just go somewhere else until we can get in right away. Life's too short and there's too much other good food to stand in a line all night.

The only place I'll wait more than 30 minutes for is Kuma's Corner. And I have to be in the mood for one of their specific burgers to even try it. The Ministry and the Absu are the only ones I'll wait for. There's just so many awesome burger places in Chicago that waiting 2 hours at the original Kuma's seems like a waste if you've been there before.

Peeves the Poltergeist is one of the most irritating characters in Harry Potter. I mean, I get that he's supposed to be irritating and it's part of his charm but I just imagine what it would be like to have to deal with that prick in real life and it ruins it for me. Although I must say it is a shame Rik Mayall's scenes as Peeves in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone were cut completely. So on one hand, I don't like the book Peeves but on the other it would have been awesome to see him in the movie.

I waited 3 hours when they were doing a tap takeover and some burger special at the same time. That was absolutely not worth it. But I can handle an hour wait there with friends.
