Description: My friends and I are weird political leftists who also consume way too much television, film, and pop culture in general. We would often meet up after our respective jobs and just get drunk and talk politics and pop culture, so that's kind of what we do on the podcast. We don't really prepare before we record so these things tend to be fairly off the cuff, we're frequently wrong about stuff, and politically we are sort of far, FAR left so maybe this pod isn't for you if that's difficult to stomach. Our differing personal experiences and vocations often come into play (we've got a philosophy professor, an English teacher, and a therapist) so I think we have a fairly unique perspective on things. We started really rough, so I think the early episodes are frankly skippable, but the most recent ones are much better indications of the quality we'd like to put forth. The topics can range all the way from Westworld, to the Brexit, to memes, to whatever strikes our fancy. I think it's trying to strike a balance between intellectually stimulating and kinda funny and casual conversation. Hope you'll check us out. I think our two best episodes are the most recent one and our podcast on Western films and Westworld, so check those out if you're looking for a taste.

Shareware Genre: General Gaming/Game Club Every week we start out with each host picking a topic and dragging eachother into discussing it, whether it's a genuinely interesting topic or just an extended improv session under the guise of talking about a game (most of mine, honestly). In the second half of the show, we get together as a group to discuss the nitty gritty aspects of our Game Club title, which we assign at the end of every week like an unreasonably cool and soon to be fired group of schoolteachers. Sometimes we love the games, sometimes we hate them, and on occasion we even discuss why we feel the way we do about them. Show Notes: This week on Shareware an old face returns yet again in the form of Brent, who launches almost immediately into a discussion of the fan made mod Antibirth for The Binding of Isaac Rebirth [3:29]. This leads ever so elegantly into Greyson's recent re-entry into the Shadows of Mordor [24:26], filled with the sultry sounds of Orcs screaming RANGER into the night. This leads into Brett's personal playthrough of Depression Quest (his life) in the form of Little Matchstick Gamer [38:02], wherein we discuss stories about the darkest times in our gaming careers and, indeed, our very lives. We then move on to Josh's topic on Temporary Content [54:02], in which we discuss the recent trend of, well, temporary content in games such as HITMAN, Diablo 3, etc. After that we have our Company of Heroes Game Club [1:19:23], with an (un)fortunately absent Brett. However, just as evil forces of darkness do, he merely bides his time until the Game Club is over to deliver a Debriefing on our next Game Club game, NieR [2:51:40]. The Secret Cinema Available on: Stitcher | RSS | Website | iTunes | Soundcloud Social Media: Facebook Genre: film analysis, theory, and criticism Release Schedule: once every two weeks, on Friday Goons: just ol' china bot Description: Yet another lo-fi film discussion podcast, with the emphasis on discussion, featuring films that are obscure (Corn's-A-Poppin', Mondo New York), bizarre (Uzumaki, Phenomena), or just under-analyzed in general (Troop Beverly Hills, Wild Things). I have a degree in film and no success in the industry, my co-host/girlfriend is an artist, and each episode's guest is a strongly opinionated friend (if we can find one). I also open each episode with samples from the film being covered, to give some context for the discussion. Most recent episode: Episode #26 - The Student Nurses Paolo and Carrie are joined again by Emily Neil (as well as a secret semi-guest) to discuss Stephanie Rothman's 1970 feminist sexploitation comedy-drama The Student Nurses. Topics include: the career of Stephanie Rothman, stethoscopes representing penises, and a lengthy discussion of a protagonist's abortion. Next episode: Office Killer (1997)

Castles in the Air Episode 4: The Frame What's this? A horror anthology series, with a bit of a sci-fi slant, inspired by shows like The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Dark Side, though with a bit more of an existential twist. This episode centres around a couple in a 50's diner who find themselves in some kind of strange time loop. Genre Radiodrama/anthology This episode? After a lifetime of work, a scientist and his team finally succeed in creating a working time machine. However, he quickly finds the device taken away fro him and turned into a commercial product, and people soon begin taking “tours” of the past. The scientist ponders the nature of recorded history, and the worth of documentation holds in a world where the past can so easily change. New Episodes Every two weeks Goon?
