It says something about Donald that no one can say with any certainty whether he would present them with Presidential Medals of Freedom or murder their families.

I can't wait to see who he does give them medal to if he lasts that long. Probably Ivanka, Diaper Don, and Eric. Those are a given, and at least one of the Duck Dynasty retards.

Edit: Probably Tom Brady and Barron while we're at it.

He doesn't think they will (he may be correct), but if they do, don't expect mr. Nice trump. The government is now Trump, INC II and it has drones.

Ideally he'd just start calling them a bunch of liberal paid protesters and cause a bunch of white wing infighting among the true believers as a result.

Or the person next to him who wants to reduce federal effectiveness as much as possible will tell him they're in one of the places that doesn't matter to True 'muricans and he'll say something like "Well, don't think the government is so innocent. It's not." and do nothing.

It could go either way. It would be pretty easy to paint these guys and lunatic fringe losers and criminals if Trump wanted to go that way. They have very little support. Between the bundy ranch and the bird sanctuary actions they got, what, a couple hundred people who were actually willing to get off the couch and show up? And it turns out like a quarter of those were confidential informants. Even on the religious right these guys are considered loony, remember that the LDS church officially condemned seizing the bird sanctuary.

Mounting an armed protest when the Republicans control all three branches of the federal government would be de facto proof that you aren't a real patriot. Losers and criminals.

Not gonna post all the tweets, but this list today is interesting: https://twitter.com/jjmacnab/lists/bundy-oregon-trials

Blaine Cooper testified and said they had a planning meeting pre-takeover, which pretty much seals the conspiracy charges. Shame he didn't testify in the last trial, although I doubt it would have made a difference with Legal Expert Juror #4.

I'm praying there is no juror who subscribes to the "but they thought it was ok, ergo, no crime occurred" legal theory in this trial. I don't think I could take it.

I read Under the Banner of Heaven last year. The early Mormons get a surprisingly even handed portrayal and it's hard not to see how bad their persecution no matter how dumb their beliefs are. The modern day fundamentalists on the other hand are just plain scum.

Yeah, that's why the mormon church officially condemned the occupation.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/mormon-church-oregon-ocupation_us_568ad8f8e4b014efe0db4421

quote:

The church’s full statement:

While the disagreement occurring in Oregon about the use of federal lands is not a Church matter, Church leaders strongly condemn the armed seizure of the facility and are deeply troubled by the reports that those who have seized the facility suggest that they are doing so based on scriptural principles. This armed occupation can in no way be justified on a scriptural basis. We are privileged to live in a nation where conflicts with government or private groups can — and should — be settled using peaceful means, according to the laws of the land.

I can't find it now, but there was a video of three guys from the occupation who traveled to Utah to try to meet with the church leadership and convince them to change their minds, but the church leaders wouldn't even talk to them.
