Armond White's review of Get Out: Return of the Get-Whitey Movie
"Reducing racial politics to trite horror-comedy, it’s an Obama movie for Tarantino fans."

The best part was a comment at the end that was something like "I always read Armond Whites reviews and never have any idea what he's talking about."

The worst part is everytime I copy and paste something from his review it automatically follows it up with "Read more at..." :tinfoil:

That's not what I was confused about. Why would you ever talk classic movies with a lovely anime dude and think their opinion on the subject holds any weight whatsoever? At least you're aware he's wrong.

I remember fresh off beating OoT and wanting more, trying MM. There was this immediate "This isn't more Ocarina, this isn't Ocarina at all" sense that I tried my rear end off to push through, before finally giving up.

To this day, I can't quite put my finger on why it just repulsed me so much. Every couple of years I pick it up and try it, but even going into it knowing its a different beast doesn't make it more palatable.

Hell, for all I can remember MM was the starting point where I stopped thinking my first impressions of a game were wrong.

I didn't know OoT was the best selling Zelda game. I mean, in hindsight I should've, but I had no idea.

Collecting things is cool when the game is designed around it.

It's less cool when it's in a big open world game and the shinies are there to extend the playtime.

2 just didn't capture the same sense of exploration that blew me away with 1. The planet was gorgeous and I'd happily play it again and again if I could. I am genuinely worried that Nintendo will remaster it for the Switch and in turn get my money.

I've been wanting to play a metroidvania for a while now, is there a decent way to play Fusion anywhere that isn't digging out an old GBA? Alternatively, anyone got any metroidvania recommendations? I've played Guacamelee and Axiom Verge.

Majora's Mask suffers a bit from a long, involved and elaborate first section that you have to play all in one sitting to finally get to save and to also not be a mutant Deku scrub for a little bit. It's a very bold artistic decision and the actual difficulty is very low- they really really point you where to go at every step- but it's still discomforting. Even after that the way saves work means you really want to plan to play it in sustained bursts.

GBA emulation has problems with lag and framerate, unless you burn the roms to a flash cart. But thankfully you can purchase approximately .05% of the GBA library through the nintendo virtual console.

Yeah the first one definitely mastered atmosphere, something the later games lacked, but two just felt fast paced and weird, and I really liked the moth dudes. Really missed out though by not calling the Emperor Ing the Ing King.

How is Axiom Verge, worth playing?
